Don’t get the love for Colorado at all, but living in the state for the majority of my adult life they are one of the worst bandwagon teams in the NHL.
Pre-Covid I traveled on business to several other NHL cities/areas including watching the Flames play in San Jose at least a dozen times, Anaheim, LA, Glendale/Phoenix and the Avs fans are some of the most fair weather fans you can find.

I don't think it is "love" for Colorado. A lot of it is admiration for the best player on the planet.

Colorado is not a one man team, far from it. They have a lot of talent.
I think the “love” is just the recognition of how good they are. I agree that Avs fans are fair weather which is true for all their teams but the Broncos. Coloradans have a lot of choices of how to spend their time.
