I love it - tons of information, which really helps your game. For instance, a full set of data on each club, how often you miss left, right, short and long, the avg distance and range for each, etc etc
Yes! Love my Arccos and don't know what I'd do without it. I actually bought a Samsung Galaxy watch and upgraded my phone (battery) just to link to it during rounds. It speeds things up a lot having the watch I feel.

The data is pretty awesome as well and gives you some real confidence on how far your clubs actually go. I've reduced the number of short of the green approaches with the data. Its also really good to get a break down of GIR, fairways hit, up & downs, and of course putts.

I've been onboard for awhile, so I was grandfathered in and don't have to pay the yearly subscription fee (got my parents in before that as well by buying them both sets).

Shot 96(48,48) at McCleery in Vancouver today, breaking 100 for the first time!
Need to get rid of some 3 putts and I'm confident I'll be able to break 90 soon.

Having just got serious about golf last September, I'll be stoked if I can get my scores from around 110 to 90 in a calendar year.
I love this game!

Are they worth that $120/yr? I didn’t realize that was part of the deal before and that’s really expensive.

I'd say no...it's definitely a luxury item and a few other GPS systems can hand record your shots if you're diligent and don't have the SaaS model fee.

I just got word that I'm playing a course called "Brewster's Kananaskis Ranch" for Father's Day. Anyone know anything about this one? Why haven't I heard of it? Is it new?

I've been using a garmin watch to get yardages and track my shots and I honestly feel lost when I can't use it (ie. battery dies, or course has changed so the yardages are all way off).

The first version only gave me distances which was all I was after. Now it can track shots which is a huge add. It basically records the gps location of each shot. It automatically distinguishes between practice swings, and actual contact.

By doing this, it's trivial to measure a shot (walk up to your ball, and it shows you the distance from where you hit it). It then allows me to review my round afterwards by being able to see all of my shots overlayed on a picture of each hole.

It's not perfect - maybe about 90% accurate, with some missed shots. And it gets confused if you have to rehit a shot because of OB (I generally will just take a lateral drop in these instances unless I'm in a tournament with rules) but good enough for me as it is all automatic - basically no fiddling with the watch at all during the round.

Garmin also used to have a swing analyzer you attached to your club shaft, but I never got to try it out, and it has since been discontinued. More a driving range tool than something you use during a round.

It's not new, but it's not bad. I like playing in the mountains, so that is a big plus. When I played it, the greens were in decent shape, but they are pretty small.

I played there once and I found it a little gimmicky, but it was fun.

I bought a groupon to play there - I think it was like $60 for two people including carts. My friend and I arrived and it was overcast, threatening to rain, and probably around 12 degrees. Based on the conditions, we weren't sure we'd get a round in, and the parking lot was empty when we arrived. Never seen that before.

But we golfed. Course was in decent shape, and the rain held off except for a couple 3 minute sprinkles. After the round, we walked into the proshop and asked (since there was no one on the course) if they'd let us play another 9 for free. They said go ahead. That made a half-decent day of golf into a memorable one. Basically a buck a hole including cart, never being pushed from behind, and never waiting on any shot.

I say it felt gimmicky because it seemed like half of the holes were driveable par 4s - 230-250 yard range. My driver wasn't consistent that day and I would have been better off playing two short iron shots and playing it like a par 4, but the temptation was too great and I hurt myself a lot with bad drives.

Penalties off the tee and chipping are definitely my issues right now. Putting and iron game is pretty good.
Have been taking some lessons and trying to fix up those 2 areas, will check out Phil's videos.

Congratulations!!! One thing I wanted to mention earlier was that there is no shame in leaving your driver in the bag if its causing you to take multiple penalty strokes. You can always work on it on the range and hit an easy 5w or hybrid off the tee. 40 or 50 less yards distance is nothing compared to three off the tee.

I've broken 90 a handful of times this year, but have found greater satisfaction in that I have not hit triple digits once.

Started a pretty hard 12 days of golf on Wednesday:

Wintergreen
Riverside (fairmont)
Grey Wolf
Eagle Ranch
Stewert Creek
Elbow Springs
Alberta Springs (27 hole tourney)
Banff

Most golf I have played in a month, let alone 12 days.

Pretty happy it won't be 30 degrees to be honest.

Agreed that it felt a little gimmicky. Like they just didn't have quite enough land to lay out a full course. As long as you go expecting to almost never hit your woods, then you'll be fine. It does test your game in a much different way from usual, which I guess is not necessarily a negative.

This course is pretty decent actually, its now an 18 hole course too. A decade ago it was only a 9 hole. Can't beat the value for golfing in the mountains.

Side note, I had my one and only Albatross at that course, I guess that's another reason I like it lol.
