EDIT: He definitely does not leave his feet when contact is made. There is no penalty for leaving your feet after contact; that's called physics (I frankly can't believe I have to explain that to anyone who watches hockey enough to post on a hockey fan site).

Oh give me a break.

What point are you trying to make?

Suspend him for the series. None of this one game/two game crap. I still remember Maurice making it seem that Tkachuk's hit was intentional. Let's see how he plays this.

That’s even more of the problem. No he wasn’t there in time to get a stick on it. Late hit, intent to injure

He's just trying to be his regular contrarian self and add nothing to the discussion.

If he was trying to stop the goal would he not go for the stick and puck?

He 100% wanted to hurt him. Maybe to not that extent but he wanted to lay him out!

Go ahead and try to explain where I'm wrong there... spoiler: you can't. The only thing it could possibly be is charging, based on the replays that were shown on the broadcast. And that's not clear, because we can't see where Scheifele stops skating or how fast he's cruising into the hit.

If there's another angle that shows something different, fine, but you'll have to post it.

Talking about "adding nothing to the discussion", I'm debating the hit, you're taking personal shots at me. Yet I'm confident nothing will be done about it, as usual.

It was a hit at a time when the play was most definitely going to be dead too.

Is there an angle that shows the principle point of contact? If it was a headshot Scheifele is likely in trouble. If it was not he is likely in trouble because that was a hard hit.

This has been annoyingly common these playoffs.

Who even knows what the DOPS will call that. Could be 5 games, could be $5K.

I don’t want to be outraged. I just know what I think. It was a dirty hit, with no in game purpose.

Yup. Legal or not it was absolutely gutless.

It's a charging major after the puck is in the net in the last minute of a game. It's a suspension for sure.

I think he was just close enough that he actually could have made a play on the puck and maybe prevented the goal (albeit unlikely).

Classy by Ehlers - he was right on the spot trying to keep the scrum off Evans and calling for help.

Most important thing is Evans' health
Second is an appropriate punishment for a terrible hit

Wayyy after that, and I hate that it always comes back to this for me, but that hit was literally the exact Tkachuk on Kassian hit, but sped up about 10x and a possibly sever injury added on. Will the media vilify Scheiflie, say he has to fight whoever asks him, and make him out to be a dirt bag, predatory player?

The in-game purpose was that if Evans is a half second slower rounding the net - which Scheifele absolutely cannot tell when he commits to the hit - the puck goes off his stick into the slot, gets picked up by a Jet, and they have a six on four rush the other way with a chance to tie the game.

It's possible he just wanted to hurt the guy, but that play absolutely does have an in-game purpose. Plenty of times a guy tries to wrap it around but can't quite get it far enough out to bring it back into the net.

Perhaps Perry can see his way clear to accidentally kneeing someone in the head at full speed again? Would love to see a Jet look like Tavares did a few weeks back right about now.
