media going on about a young core...FFS Crosby had a cup already you dicks
This is such bull####. Every damn year we hear about the “young” Edmonton Oilers. The Flames were a younger team than the Oilers but you never hear the media refer to them as the “young” Flames. It is a bull#### media driven narrative to cover up for their continued failures!!

The monkey's paw is a classic fable/myth about making wishes on a severed monkey's paw that is cursed. You will technically get your wish, but not in the way you hoped.
Now go back and check out his original post and then btimbit's post. Gold.

Not a single one of their players or media will acknowledge their mistakes.
Bear with a terrible giveaway on the tying goal, McDavid with one on the winner. That's not bad luck or not getting bounces; that's making costly mistakes in a close hockey game while the other team doesn't.
It's not that complicated, it's what happens in the playoffs.
Don't think I have heard one Oiler player or anyone from the Oiler lovin media give any credit to the Winnipeg Jets. FFS you would think it was the Oilers who had just swept the Jets out of the playoffs. What a pissy little entitled hockey team the Oiler are.

The 1993 Sabres went through the same thing, losing their last three games against the Habs in a 4 game sweep.
The 1994 Calgary Flames lost the last 3 games of their opening round series against the Canucks in OT. I don't recall the media going on and on about how that series could have gone either way. In fact the media roasted the Flames for losing that series.

After Sportsnet verbally fellating McDavid the last month and a half on his "points record chase" and how the Jets didn't stand a chance - I couldn't be happier they'll have to find a new narrative to fill 45 minutes a night.
A closer series than a 4 game sweep would likely indicate, but credit for the Jets for doing the job, and too many self-inflicted wounds by the Oilers. Massive off-season for the Oilers with ample available cap space and some big decisions to be made. This off-season will set them up for the next 3-5 years, for better or worse.....
