Jets just appear to have the playoffs style down. They bend but don't break. Not at all flashy but impressively composed under pressure in their end getting between the puck and the net
The goaltending edge would be not insignificant.

As an old bastard, I can remember when the Leafs were the darlings of ALL Anglophone Canadians! So the antipathy still seems a little weird to me.
As another old bastard, I can remember cheering for the Habs just because I refused to be told who my ####### darling was supposed to be.
I also remember how the Leafs fought like madmen to keep any and all NHL expansion teams out of Canada, so they wouldn't have to share their precious CBC revenue. They couldn't stop Vancouver from getting a team, but after that their record was perfect.
Notorious hockey hotbeds like San Francisco and Kansas City gained and lost NHL franchises before the WHA merger finally forced the Leafs to accept competition in their own country.
