What I still don’t understand is why the Panthers drafted Spencer Knight, who was considered a high end talent and thus got their goaltender of the future who would be ready in a couple of years, but then went out and signed Bobrovsky over a week later in free agency to a 7 year $70 mill contact. That kind of signing makes absolutely no sense to me when you literally just drafted your future goalie who scouts pegged as an A prospect and a legitimate future NHL goalie for years to come, and all he would need is a couple of years of development. Could have just gotten a filler goalie for 2 years instead of screwing up their entire cap situation with $10 mill on the books every season for 7 years. Complete stupidity and a desperation signing.

There’s always a chance it doesn’t work out, or both work out and you a have good extra asset you can move to improve the team.
I don’t really think the Bobrovsky signing was good to begin with, but if you can sign a (maybe former at this point) legit starting goalie for 7 years right after drafting an A goalie prospect, you still do it every day.

I still believe...but they need to nail down this win. Lightning are going to press hard for the rest of the game.
It's crazy to see Knight doing this with little to no pro experience. The guy is a natural.

ooh, Kucherov nailed in a sandwich hit by Gudas. Looked a little rough, but he's okay.

He seems posed and has real good focus. If he can keep this up he may just get into Tampa's heads.
Every time he makes a quick glove save, I keep thinking Mike Smith would have missed that one.

I just get the feeling he's the next Carey Price. Unfortunately, we will be paying his backup like he's Carey Price.

Holy ####. What a save by Knight off Kucherov. Kid is for real and the Panthers are very, very much in this series still with him in net.

Bennett still can’t score ENGs. Old Calgary habit.

I don't think you bank on a 20 year old coming in and being your number 1.

Vatrano into the empty net. Knight becomes one of the youngest goalies to ever win a playoff start. Hopefully it won't be his last.
Broadcasters are telling me he's the youngest to win an elimination game since Tom Barrasso FWIW.

Man, if the Panthers/Knight can just string together two more games like that...
