Again, I keep hearing about the Rangers. But what do they realistically have to offer that's better than Tkatchuk? Since they're in the same division, they'd probably have to overpay. Are they going to offer Lafrenniere or Fox? I doubt it. Kakko's not going to get it done. Who else do they have?

They seem ready to compete to me. I think they would be insane to move bargain contract players for an elite player they don’t need.

I think the Kings are a very serious threat as they have the pieces, they would be a preferred destination for Buffalo (west) and Eichel (It’s LA) and the Kings players and organization are talking about pushing this rebuild forward and trying to win sooner than later. LA used picks, prospects, and young players to fast track their rebuild that resulted in 2 cups so you can’t rule them out.

I do think the Flames will be as aggressive as any team of Treliving is the guy in charge. This is the rare chance to add an elite player in his prime and signed for 5 years. The Flames are one of the teams bidding who could add a line established young star player in return. Tkachuk is a fan favorite and the type of player you love to have on your team. I hate the idea of trading him but I think this team is in a tough spot to really make changes to be better. If you have an extremely rare chance to get a 25 year old top line C you have to do it. Especially with Johnny saying he wants to stay. You have your superstar duo for the next 5 years along with your goalie and a blueline that are just entering their prime.

Oh I completely agree I'm really hoping we can land a franchise C like Eichel especially signed for 5 yrs...I hate the idea of trading Chucky too.. it just has "we were in on it until the end but lost out to LA" written all over it

Let's say if he would've picked up both Tiffoli and Perry, which happened to be RHS, like what the Habs did instead of picking up Markstrom, I think the Flames would be in a different place.
Picking up Perry for free would've been a definite upgrade over Nordstrom, Ritchie, Leivo or Simon at even strength and on the PP. At the very least, picking him up would've helped kept him from haunting the Flames all season long. Would've meant no Hanifin injury as well.

Was just talking it over with a buddy, he said the sabres won't want to trade Eichel to the Rangers because they'll want him in the West so he thinks the Flames actually have a shot at getting him. The thing is, he said he would flip him right away to the rangers for all the futures they were originally offering plus a small service fee lol.

I assume we are also getting Buffalo's first round pick. And ignoring the cap.

Anyone that is hoping to have Gaudreau re-signed should hopefully be expecting it to be a fair-value deal. I don't expect Gaudreau to take a discount, but he shouldn't come in at 9 million plus either.

I am definitely in the re-sign camp. I think that the Flames are not going to be trading him for futures. Maybe they do so if they are then going to turn around and use those futures to acquire another top-line player. I think that in most cases, the Flames are going to get a lesser player in exchange for Gaudreau.

This team is already mediocre and boring enough. From a purely entertainment perspective, who is more fun to watch on this team?

I think it is a no-brainer decision to re-sign him (obviously based on contract demands of course). It is a no-brainer to move him if his demands are too high of course, or if he isn't REALLY wanting to re-sign here (and I take him at his word actually - he could have easily been non-committal as many players in his situation often are - he didn't have to be so up-front with his answer).

Gaudreau makes this team more fun to watch, and he is by far the most offensive player on the team. He will be hard to replace, especially on a team that has difficulty generating offence.

There's still the "he's lying element" haunting around. I have a turn around for those guys.

For the Guadreau is eastern American crowd, never forget Chucky's from St Louis and as we saw at the All Star game he's very proud of being from St Louis. Those guys who have the inside scoop on Johnny should tell us there take on the very American Matt Tkachuk?

I actually like Eric Francis however I'd love to hear his take on that.

Voted to trade him.

Unless we can sign a legit Center that's not made of glass, playing thru injuries , can play a 200 foot game , can punch faces and just have other players NOT wanna hurt or run Johnny whenever the F they find it convenient because they know no one on our current roster is going to step in and police that situation.....blah blah blah.

I love Johnny when he's on and NOT scared to play his game.

I love Johnny when the refs call penalties instead of him getting hooked, held and slashed....otherwise it's just a moo point .....a cows opinion as Joey from friends would say.

He is going to command some dough and unless Tree can pull the resurrection of Joel F ing Otto out of his ____ there's no point in keeping him here.

Makes me sick to even say it since I've been pissed ever since we let some StLouis guy go because he was too small....blah blah blah .

Anyone remember Theo #14 ?? God how people forget or just choose to be who they choose to be .

Anyone remember Joe Mullen, Hakan Loob, Val Bure, Jiri Hudler ALL smaller players that didn't do nothing here remember.

Only a few of the guys listed above won cups but we just wanna make the playoffs right?? Smfh.

Some smaller players might have the jam and tenacity to make it in the NHL just NOT in Calgary apparently.

How can you tell I'm bitter and resentful.?

Ahhh....the smell of mediocrity.

Ps.
Eric Francis can #### off.

No one says he’s lying. People are saying he still has yet to commit, and we don’t know the details of what he would want or how eager he is. And is saying what you’d expect in such an interview.

And yeah, plenty of people figure Tkachuk wants to play in the US.

Trade him. Though i am in the 'trade/move every significant piece of the core/organization to do a complete and total top down overhaul of the entire Flames organization' camp.

Tkachuk. Brookes was saying they should go after Tkachuk, that is who I would want.

Thanks, not sure the Rangers would do it, but I thought you were suggesting for Johnny.

I wouldn't do it if I was the Rangers. Johnny definitely is not getting Zibby.
