I saw a picture on twitter from an Oilers fan crying about McDoofus being horse collared in the game. Oiler fans are good at creating BS narratives considering the whole horse collar took place after a play during an altercation between McDavid and the jets.

The Oilers need to lose this series and badly, not because ENG, not because their hockey team beyond the wonder twins activate is no good nee awful. But because their arrogant, entitled delusional fanbase deserves nothing. They deserve to see their team go down in flames, they deserve to feel nothing but pain, and anguish and that feeling of their hearts being slowly ripped out of their chests and shown to them before being thrown into a wood chipper.

No Virginia, this is not a well built hockey team, that was strategically built. Its a lazy incomplete rebuild with the laughable fact that they didn't even manage the cap very well. This was a team that has stumbled into a rare playoff appearance. And no Jimmy, I'm sorry but this isn't about the Oilers playoff window opening for years of competitive hockey. This is the rare instance that the window cracked open and will slammed shut severing the greedy fingers of an arrogant fan base.

Palpatine said it best but modified for the Oilers.

Oh I'm afraid the Oilers level of suck will be quite operational when your friends arrive.

I think we are being hard on the Oilers and their fans.

Over the last 15 years this team has been a powerhouse, and no other team has lost fewer playoff games than the oilers over that stretch*, so you can't blame them, or their fans for taking it hard when they lose one.

I have no idea if this is true (I did check a few obvious candidates, Buffalo, Florida, Columbus), but the Oilers have lost 6 playoff games (7 counting last night), and I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that that is the fewest losses of any team (why they have the fewest losses, is of course not something to be proud of).

Since the start of the 2006-07 season, no NHL team has fewer playoff losses than the Edmonton Oilers' 10.
NHL.com seems to be counting the play-in last year, which is the only reason it is so high. If we take that out, it is indeed 6. And still the lowest.

A supposed powerhouse like the Penguins in that time frame has 80 losses - EIGHTY! That means they are EIGHT (8) TIMES WORSE THAN THE OILERS.

Crazy...

I still think the Oilers will win the series, but they're going to have issues longer-term because they are such a PP-dependent team. There just aren't as many PP opportunities in the post-season as there are in the regular season. This is nothing new.

Also funny how none of the Oilers fans is whining about the Oilers being assessed exactly 0 minutes in penalties the entire game.

Its laughable any Oiler, coach, media member or fan has the audacity to talk about non calls. The Jets didn't go on the power play once. This isn't regular season hockey, where you can float around untouched and rack up the points. This is how playoff hockey has been played for decades, less space, less time, every check being finished. Guys are going all out. It was a joy seeing Draisaitl get his bucket knocked around in the first 5 minutes of the game. Welcome to playoff hockey you clowns.

Depends IMO on the response next game.

I think an 0-2 hole where you lost both at home with Ehlers & PLD returning likely when it shifts to MTS would give WPG the leg up it needs to take the series.

I'll say whoever takes the next one goes on to win the series.

As for less infractions called, yes overall the Oilers are ####ed regardless of how this one turns out. The poor even strength issues from last season have without question carried over. And they'll soon be a one line team when they inevitably pair the top guys up to compensate for less PP time.

Seeing those mouths backtrack and eat their obnoxious predictions after a sweep would be some kind of soul medicine.

I'd be irate as a Jets fan watching that first game which was the mcplayoff train show from the opening minute.

Oh it was a McDavid circle jerk. It's hard to watch your team execute their game plan and beat the Oilers but both intermission are all about the Oilers.

I heard him on an interview say that he does CAL now to troll those that get their panties mixed up over it.

That makes it even stupider. Just cut to the chase and let’s start using airport codes.

Nice to get my Oilers pre-game from Cassie and Kelly. Bieksa at least talked about the Jets in the context of getting traffic in front of Smith.
