For some reason Leafs and powerhouse don't equate come playoff time, That said Leafs in 6 in front of 2500 of the biggest tickets ever paid for a hockey game.

Leafs are hardly a powerhouse, but they should still steamroll Montreal

This should be a 4 or 5 game series but the Leafs are Flames West when it comes to the playoffs and the Habs always seem to play above their weight class in the playoffs so I would not be surprised to see a close 6 or 7 game series.

I need the leafs to win because if the greasers get past the jets, I don’t think that the habs can beat greasers.

The problem is that this is like a derby and the 1v4 feels closer than it should.

If the leafs can get some early wins this might be over quickly.

I have to go and shower now.

The Leafs should win in 5 but there are a few thing to maybe bring this to six games: Price may steal a game; Anderson and Toffoli seem to run around well against the Leafs; I personally don’t have a ton of confidence in Campbell. Some combination of this is likely to steal a game or two but Montreal isn’t that great of a team especially on defence.

I have no love for either team, but a Leafs-Oilers series would be fun to watch (and I still expect the Oilers to come out of the WPG series).

I also don't think the Oilers have much of a chance against Toronto, so it would be entertaining to watch them get picked apart.

As for Montreal... they just suck. Leafs in 5.

Montreal won two less games than the Flames this season and only one more win than the Canucks. They have to be one of the worst teams to make the playoffs in some time.

Is there any way both teams can lose? Horrible that one of them will advance.

I'd love to see the Scabs pull off the upset, just to watch Toronto implode. What would you do with that team after another 1st round choke job?

For me, Jets/Habs second round would be perfect. Wouldn't hear another word about McAvi or the Laffs. And neither team would have a hope in the final four, so no chance of another Canadian franchise winning the Cup before the Flames.

Go Habs! Steal a win in Game 1, but get Caufield in there for Game 2

I have fuzzy memories of the 78 sweep (out of the country in 79). Habs will be a tougher opponent than the pundits think, but the Leafs should still win this.

This is the most ridiculous, breathless hyperbole I've read on a sports site in some time.

"Toronto and Montreal may be playoff strangers but the heated rivalry has never been forgotten in the minds of hockey fans. Despite not facing off in a postseason series since 1979, all that drought has done is build a fire in each fan base which will be unleashed when the two teams meet Thursday. Michael Farber has more."

Keep it in your pants, Farber.

Somehow both these teams should lose just for this blurb.

Pregame is actually balanced. Unlike the Oilers circle jerk.
