Honestly Wills is the biggest homer I have ever had the pain of listening to... I literally cant take it (radio gets turned off). He would fit in great over on CHED with Bob Stauffer and Spector. I dont know who is a bigger homer between the three, but honestly I would say Wills would outshine both those Oiler guys.

Total babble garbage.

Yeah, that ‘what if’ nonsense is of little value. It could be met with ‘what if Ottawa didn’t go 1-8-1 in their first 10?’ The reasoning being that the first 10 games of any season are often not reflective of the rest of the season, and there really wasn’t an exhibition season
Their 21-20-4 over the last 45 is better than the Flames who were below .500 pt % age
The what if game has a lot of flavours, and they don’t end up making Calgary look much better

Since the all star game break in 2019 , the Flames have a cumulative and abysmal 21st best points total in the NHL.
Their best players went south, in a hurry.
What happened?

Something happened during that All-Star break! It has been night and day.
Someone within the organization must know ... and if so, surely it can be fixed.

No point in playing those other 6 guys in all seriousness. No fans in the stands to try and create entertaining hockey for, they have nothing left to prove or gain this season and we want to take a look at some of the young blood.
|
Full roster yes, but they’re playing for pride!!! Who are we to deny them this hard-earned moment of glory??

On the positive side even if they win out the season they can only move up 2 places in the overall standings.

Typical in a year where many could use the distraction of having a team that is at least competitive this team does what it always does and disappoints

Hah, after the pathetic excuse for a game 7 in 2006 I vowed to only put up my car flags if the Flames got past the first round. They'll rot away from natural causes long before they suffer any wind damage

Maybe some league executives took the time off to figure out how to stop the Flames and rest of the league copied. The Avs absolutely ran a clinic on the Flames defensively and used their speed and backcheck to absolutely shut the Flames offense down. Despite what the pundits or management has said, this is not a deep team and they’re not skilled enough. The new top line should be the standard for skill. Find more of that. No more dead weight.

After the loss to the avs everyone blamed the Flames tpp players for not being their best players when it counted. Particularly the forwards. Management made no changes to the forward group and carried on.
Last year in the playoffs the forward group wilted when it mattered against the stars. The consensus was that the core was not good enough. This off-season management made no change to the core and no attempt to bolster the forward group again and spent money on goaltending and defense that wasn't the problem.
Now we are another season in and surprise our forward group isn't good enough.

All three of “the new top line” were abysmal failures in the last two playoff series the Flames lost.

I’m confused, did the Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk line ever play together in the playoffs?
I remember the already broken Gaudreau-Monahan duo not working and I remember Tkachuk playing with Frolik and Backlund. But the new trio, nope, never lined up together 5 on 5.

In 4 years the Avs go from worst team in the NHL to winning the President’s Trophy. I believe only five current players were on the roster back in 2017.
Where will the Flames be 4 years from now?

In the same spot they have been for the past 30 years. Somewhere around 12th to 22nd overall. Some years squeezing into the playoffs for a quick exit, other years missing out by a few spots. It’s the Flames way and motto...mediocrity. I can’t even call this team a loser because they can never even lose or tank properly for a rebuild. I guess I’ll always have the spring of 2004 to look back on...God I hate this team.
