If he could get LTIR-ed then maybe he would consider it but no way he is walking from that contract.

Our top paid center for their top paid center ++++. Without Tkachuk, the Flames’ right wing could be worst of all time kind of bad.
Our top paid centre likely has zero or close to zero trade value right now.

it's hard enough to win any type of trade war involving Eichel (and it would be a war) without calling our top players off limits.

The team likely in the best position to trade for Eichel is the one giving up the best current asset in the deal. And that will not be Monny.

Sounds like what Edmonton did to Smid.

Phillips - good numbers, good player, wont get a chance in Calgary

Eichel - wants out, unhappy with organization
Skinner, high contract, Flames can put on 2nd line LW
2022 first >2021 first for Flames.

just an idea and will never happen but like to hear what you think the several levels of makes no sense are?
Well you definitely do not need to justify it from a Flames perspective as it makes a lot of sense for them but makes no sense whatsoever for the Sabres.

Flames get the best player and the best draft pick in the deal and the Sabres retain 22% on Skinner. To me it is incredibly unrealistic that the Buffalo unprotected 2022 1st is on the table. The Sabres get Tkachuk but inherit the same issue the Flames currently have with him. Backlund and Monahan really do not do much of anything for what Buffalo is looking to do. Philips has no value, and Valimaki and the 1st make sense to include. I think the inclusion of Skinner, Monahan/Backlund and the Sabres 1st is what makes it too complicated

Tkachuk, Valimaki, 21 1st (throw in Philips if you want) for Eichel

I don't know how I feel about an Eichel trade it's high risk high reward.

I feel you still go hard after the guy still, but with his health it definitely lowers the bidding cap in my mind. It's a riskier take now, so don't move complete heaven and earth to bring him in.

But if the team can have Eichel, Gaudreau, and Lindholm as their players up front, it's definitely something to build off of.

Also his comments don't concern me. Tire fire organizations needs to be called out by players within them more often in this league I feel; especially if it's regarding their health.

The Flames aren't going to blow it up, so if an elite #1C becomes available (like Eichel) I hope to hell they go out and get him.

If he does need surgery or insists on it, he could miss the majority of next season. I wouldn’t give up anything close to what would be a fair deal if he was healthy. Especially not a 2022 or 2023 first rounder, which you just know Buffalo is going to want if they aren’t able to trade him before the 2021 draft.

And if he's going to miss next season due to the neck surgery do we still throw the kitchen sink to acquire him?

I let other teams take that risk and overpay, assuming that even happens.

This team isn't suddenly a contender with any of the proposed deals. If anything, it puts the Flames system back years.

We throw Valimaki, Zary, Pelletier and a 1st at a #1 C who may never be fully healthy ever again? We must really be desperate. Desperate moves like that rarely work out.

People said Sam Bennett had no value either. I saw a lot of 3rd or 4th round picks, but he ended up with essentially 2 x 2nds. So while I agree a little bit that Monahan's value has tanked, Monahan's spot is the position that needs to be upgraded. Eichel taking over as the new #1 or #2 center makes this team more dangerous without creating more holes in the line up.

I just don't know if punching massive holes everywhere else just to add Eichel makes the Flames any better than the Sabres right now. Contrary to popular belief, finding good wingers isn't that easy. Heck, look at us as an example, we've tried to fill the RW hole for years and we can't seem to do it, especially this season as the RW position was a complete and utter disaster in that regard.

Asset-wise, Eichel should be ridiculously cheap to acquire.

Move salary in other deals if you have to.

I do think this is the most affordable Eichel will be until he's on his last legs in the league.

We need to make a really good run at him here. This is far and away the best "shortcut" you have to a top notch 1C.

It also potentially helps save you from wasting the next two season of Sutter if you can reload with a meaningful transplant like this to your core.

They need to be all over it.

Grabbing Eichel makes Gaudreau even easier to re-sign in my opinion.

Gaudreau now seems to be flourishing under Sutter. Providing him with a true #1 centre, if he has any intention of considering Calgary long-term, you'd think would be what pushes him over the edge towards staying.

There's also a lot of speculation here about the herniated disc. There's a massive range in outcomes from a herniated disc. Most get better by themselves with no long term effects. Some require a minor surgery and others a major surgery. We know very little at this point.

It actually makes sense to keep Johnny long term if the deal is made.

I think a package looks like Tkachuk+Valimaki+21 1st+another asset (Dube possibly)

Flames come back with a Gaudreau-Eichel-Lindholm top line and build a 2nd line around Mangiapane and Monahan.

If Reinhart wants out too pull some sort of blockbuster and get him along with Eichel.

I'm not the biggest Reinhart fan, but he's legit top 6, can play wing and C, a right shot and apparently is a Flames fan and might not be hard to re-sign?? Thought I read that somewhere.

I hate doing trade proposals but....

Tkachuk
Monahan
?
?

For

Eichel
Reinhart

Extend Gaudreau and Reinhart.

Gaudreau - Eichel - Reinhart
Mangiapane - Lindholm - Dube

I dunno.
