Just a pure mess. This season was an exercise in futility

From a draft position standpoint it probably makes sense to play them out since the otherwise the whole league would have to switch to points percentage. It is curious that they have not set a time for these yet. I also don't think that they will hold starting the playoffs if they are eliminated. It will be like exhibition games at the same time as the real playoffs start.

I wouldn't call it a magic number if it eliminates the Flames.

Flames magic number is 8 points while hoping Montreal gets 0.

Montreal magic number is 1 point to clinch.

I'm sure everyone gets it but it's confusing to me the way you're phrasing it.

I would say it's more a tragic number and that number is 1 point either way. Habs gain 1 or Flames lose 1.
