Nate Pearson is looking like just a AAAA pitcher.
All the tools. No toolbox.

This is why I try not to get excited about sports anymore.
What a let down this has been so far.

Let’s gear down a bit. He had all of 18 innings at the major league level before this start.

All things considered that was a bit of a Houdini act. His stuff is good enough to get out of any jam. Just needs to locate. I don't think there is a more frustrating sequence in sports than watching pitchers walking a ton of batters.

Sucks that Pearson was rushed a bit but it happens. Any idea why the jays went with McGuire? I’m not opposed to it because Jansen doesn’t have a future with the team but I’m just curious why you don’t keep him to work with Pearson.

Pearson did the same thing last season. He battles nerves and it snow balls.
He'll figure it out, and once he gets confident you'll see the ace come out again. Remember how he looked against the Rays in the playoffs last season?

I am happy enough taking a bases loaded walk but no big hit there. Hopefully he settles down and gives two more innings here.

Day game after a night game. With Kirk out long term the Jay's are going to ride or die with Jansen. Need to save his legs a little bit.

He looks like he’s pitching scared to me. He just needs more innings pitched to settle in and he’ll be fine I think. His stuff is big league for sure.

Ugh. Should've pulled him after 2. Can't let this game get away from you.

Pearson should never have started this game. Don’t like how the Jays are developing Pearson right now. Needs to stay at one level and pitch consistently for a while. Just had too many injuries to expect consistency at the big league level right now.
Still think he’s going to be great but they need to be more patient with him.

This sucks. And is definitely not how I wanted to spend my afternoon. But the result is to be expected when you walk a bazillion batters.

These ####ing cheaters are still doing everything they can to bend the rules and cheat their way to wins. That was a strike 3 that he leaned his elbow into.

I’m generally on the side of a player mastering lower levels before being called up, in any sport but given the current situation we’re in with injuries I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing up Minoah for just a game or two to give him a taste. I don’t know how it affects his rookie contract situation but it would be good to see what he’s got with minimal scouting available. May give him something further to push him the extra mile. Weird as it sounds I wish they rested Pearson for a bit.

Pearson pitched 3.2 innings 5 days ago, struck out 8 and walked 1. He was also hitting 100 mph with his fastball. His problem is between the ears, and I don't think he can get over the MLB jitters pitching in AAA.
IMO they just need to keep trotting him out there and he will find his comfort zone. Just my opinion.

Also yes, I totally agree. I would love to see Manoah called up soon. If he has another dominant AAA start or two I say get him the heck up here. No sense worrying about service time with a pitcher either.
