Panthers lead the Lightning 4-1 after 2.

Just as a heads up for any Flames fans still on the fence about joining the Panthers bandwagon:

Panthers will play the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1st round. Only thing left to decide with these two games is home ice.

If you still hold a grudge against the Lightning, the Panthers should be your 1st round team.

Benny just came flying in to put Sergachev in a headlock after he went after Marchment.

The North division is abysmal. The Jets and Habs would not be in the playoffs in any other division.

Tom Wilson had to be helped off the ice after a knee on knee hit with Aube-Kubel.

Unfortunately, he returned for the start of the second period.

If only something had kept him out of the game

OOf...

Lightning have been pretty dirty most of the night. Already a hit from behind on Acciari into the boards and then a crosscheck to his neck. Now just starting #### just because...

Tippett hits Cirelli pretty well without doing anything dirty at all, just outcompeted him for a puck and he went flying. Colton flies in horse collars him without him knowing and starts punching him. Ridiculous dirt.

I get the sense that the Panthers are starting to win the mental battle heading into the playoffs. This will be a goooood series either way.

Because there is one fewer team in the North, there are 56 less games played in the North. Hence, each team's average point total within the North division will be less than the other divisions.

Lightning are also adding two superstars in game one...I don't think tonight's game is all that meaningful when it comes to the mental game.

If the game wasn't meaningful they wouldn't be reacting so badly to getting beat.

Trust me, I know when a team starts to get in the other team's head. Panthers are doing it to the Lightning tonight. They've resorted to cheap shots because they are getting beat in every aspect of the game.

For instance, just now after a fight, Pat Maroon was trying to taunt the Panthers bench. Lots of misconducts in the game (mostly to the Lightning). You don't do this with a team you're confident in beating.

All I'm saying is that this isn't Tampa's A team...Stammer and Kucherov are pretty massive adds

Damn, FLA is killing it on trading and signing for other teams disappointments. Bennett, Wennberg, Duclair...

True, but Kucherov hasn't played in nearly a calendar year and playoffs can be short. If he doesn't get going by game 2, it could be a problem for them. The Panthers are really rolling right now. Any team should be worried about a 1st round matchup with them.

Also, the Panthers are missing Hornqvist and Verhaeghe right now, who will definitely boost the lineup once playoffs start.

Oh yeah, and another fight breaks out after the Panthers play clean hockey and the Lightning get frustrated.

Oh....Gudas is looking for a partner. That should scare anyone.

Forsling and Montour as well. Gusev hasn't been too bad. Even Lomberg has been a positive contributor.

I've said it in other threads, but everything went right for the Panthers this year. Part of it is good management and planning, but much of it is just dumb luck that it all worked out so well.

Leafs win, it would only be fitting for another no-show against the Sens to eliminate the Flames.
