I played in one last year also, but they weren't allowed. I'm not entirely sure if that one was allowed due to geography (not in Calgary and I'd rather not name the course, just in case), but at Priddis they weren't doing them.

Got the following email from Play Golf Calgary. They seem to think Golf is a go after Monday with some new restrictions so that's good news.
===============================
Our Golf Courses Remain Open Following Alberta Health Restrictions
Hello again!
Golf courses in Alberta have been lucky enough to remain open following the latest restrictions from our health authorities. Outdoor recreation can take place with up to 10 people today through Sunday. Starting Monday Golf Courses will have additional restrictions. We are getting clarification from AHS on how these new measures impact golf. We will be releasing this very soon.
Play Golf Calgary takes these restrictions very seriously which is why we will be adhering to the following rules:
- Carts are single rider only
- No touching of the flag sticks
- No rakes on the golf course
- Carts are sanitized after each use

so are carts single riders only, even if you are two people from the same house - for example my wife or son?
does anyone know if courses have purchased extra carts, or has anyone run into a lack of availability of carts?
i never noticed last year; however, this year i noted that courses seem to have removed all benches - which kind of sucks for those of us who regularly walk; however, i get why as courses clearly want to remain open

So it’s safe to assume that whatever the city of Calgary figured was right was totally wrong.

I don't think anyone knows what's going on to be honest. I've heard at least 4 different versions of the 'rules'.
For now, it sounds like the league I play in will continue.

No one knows what’s going on. If golf is individual, it’s fine and if it’s not, it’s subject it the household rules. It’s frustrating because golf was safe last year and courses took a lot of precautions that seemed to work.

It seems that golf will go on and the only question is if the same family rule will apply to golf or not. To me it is asinine to allow golf courses to open while enforcing the same family rule. It's like allowing the restaurants to open but prohibit the chef from touching the food to prepare the meal.
I hope last year we have demonstrated that golf and the industry are safe. And Kenney seems to be a golf friendly person as he did allow golf to open last year two weeks ahead of everything.

Oh I don't disagree at all. Golf will be open in some form, and that's good. But I don't want the family/household restrictions because the tee sheets will just be packed with twosomes and singles. It's hard enough to get a time at this point, let alone that kind of measure.

The missing part of that release is you can only play with members of your household.
Tee times will be hard to come by.

Not sure actually. I saw a few snippets on Twitter and then I got an email from my club.

Agree now on the fml. Our club pro said they'd know what's up tomorrow but it looks like the goose is cooked.

Yeah this is 100% the stupidest thing I’ve seen recently. Congratulations on shutting down something that was completely fine.

This has me angry. I could go on and on, but the fact that even fully vaccinated seniors, who've been locked inside since November cannot golf with their 3 buddies is compete horse ****. Not only that but most golfers fall into the 40plus category and have had their their first shot and they still have to golf alone is a complete joke.
What do you think tee time intervals could go to playing only in twosomes? Would going to 5 minutes be possible? Do courses go to 9 hole bookings only, pay off of one and 10 in order to get more golfers through?
Hate to bring politics into the golf forum, but these baseless, useless, restrictions involving golf, among other things, are good insight to how hapless this UCP government is.

It's a couple weeks. Yes it sucks but other people have made bigger and longer sacrifices.
Maybe let's just suck it up for those two weeks and not make a big deal of it.
