Sportsnet must have an intern running the broadcast tonight.

Another strong defensive first period by the Flames, no scoring chances for the Jets. Sutter definitely has them playing a lot tighter defensively than I remember in recent history, not much being given up these days.

Cup awards order of preference

#1 Flames win cup

#2 Canadian team brings cup back to Canada**

Problem is I don't see either of those happening anytime soon, maybe Ottawa in a couple years ?

**does not apply to the no good up North

I’m so sick of reading this stuff. Dude has let in two or fewer goals in 9 of his last 10 starts. There is nothing wrong with him.

He had a 10 game stretch where he played below average. Other than that he’s been by far our best player this year. But ever since that one slump (where he was likely playing through an injury) people just can’t seem to let it go.

Unless you expected him to never let in a weak goal, then that’s on you for having unrealistic expectations.

I think it's just that after 10 years of goalie carousel, and now with a (true?) #1, fans are finally expecting Kipper results.

The nice thing with Sutter hockey is there are almost no scoring chances given up as well. The Flames have been real good in that regard in the last 10 games or so, stifling team defence.

It’s across the board for every poster that has a hate on for a particular player. Markstrom, Bennett when he was here, Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk. It’s like people hover over the keyboard in hopes that their guy makes a mistake.

Markstrom has been good for quite a while now. I’m happy going forward with him. He’s only the best goalie the Flames have had since Kipper.

Well, that was a tanky goal against.
I dont know what to say really. The effort is there, something is missing. There's just a giant void in the middle of this team.

I love that, players playing the right way and learning how to win!

I really can't believe Ritchie on the 2nd line is still a thing.

Surprised that Drive won, thought reverse would have it all the way when trying to win a RAM Truck as a Flames fan.

Wrong.

Cup win order of preference:

#1 Flames win cup.

#2 Any team not in Canada wins cup.

Markstrom is a “true number one” because he had a career year, Brad paid him. His off year this year is the anomaly because his statistically outlying good year last year is who he is

Smith and Talbot can stop the first shot and control their rebounds, but they are not true #1s. Brad let them go.

When Sutter has the Flames giving up 3 scoring chances on a night, he’d have to work hard to let in all 3.

Sorry, he hasn’t had a particularly good year
