Yikes. Driving someone face first into the ice with your knees, then punching him while he is defenseless, then grabbing a player by the hair, and slamming his helmetless head into the ice... how in the world is that not an attempt to injure? To top it off, he was taunting the players even after the fact. This is what the NHL wants to market?

I guess anything goes. Maybe every player should get a signature finishing move. Mine would be the DDT.

Parros is an idiot.

Maybe they meant 5000 game suspension...

I have noticed a distinct difference since Parros took over.
I thought Shanahan was great in the role, Quintal was fine. Parros has been a joke IMO

Wilson is a garbage POS. I can't even imagine what player safety was thinking with just a fine.

Putin got to Parros.

I don't understand how this league can harshly punish split second hits that happen in such a fast game between the whistle, but turn a blind eye to this kind of garbage after a whistle.

I think the 'code' is a bit silly, but I think it is universally accepted that MMA takedowns and punching players when they're down are simply unacceptable.

I’m not sure I’ve ever actually been angry about a NHL fine before… this is insane.

I never really care about fines or suspension lengths but this is probably the silliest one I've seen in the past decade.

Even the casual fans I know here think it's ridiculous.

If that's the price of doing what he did.... we should be doing that to McDavid every game.

Honestly, I can't even get upset at the NHL anymore.

The league is pretty bush.

Are there any other examples of a 6-4 220 goon ever assaulting a 5-11 170 super star?

I wonder, theoretically, if Panarin could press charges...I know that's a "wuss" thing to do from one player to another but geez maybe it would get the ball rolling on disciplining that clown...

...but I guess it would be a lame way of going about it.

Someone like Lucic or McGrattan would rather quit hockey than do that

PS Gaudreau should actually get to the dressing room (never mind the bench) instead of hanging around the fringes of a scrum

Parros has tremendous empathy for Wilson. The goon as a victim.

When Parros tried to drive Colton Orr's head into the ice he missed and knocked himself out and got taken off on stretcher.

Panarin put Wilson in a similar risky position. If Wilson missed and smashed his own head into the ice he could have suffered a serious injury.

Where is the discipline for Panarin??

Then I spent $5K fixing my teeth, and got a puck to the chin for 7 laces a couple of games later.
Immediate full cage.
It just kinda makes sense...

I dated a dentist - after hearing her horror stories of the hockey carnage she saw every month, she demanded, and I agreed, to always wear a cage henceforth.
