No it wasn't. Gio put the puck on Monahan's tape as he turned and instead of handling the puck and skating with it he put it behind himself into his own skates and spun around. This is nothing new for Monahan though. Same player he's always been but now separated from Gaudreau and without his shot for whatever reason.

Monahan got his tape on it but the puck was in his feet. And he was between two Oilers. A bad decision by Gio.

What? How do you get a pass on your tape and in your feet at the same time? He had his stick in front of him as he turned. A centre turning to support the d is expected to make a play there at most levels of hockey

I saw Monahan carry the puck through the neutral zone earlier. Don’t be too hard on him. Another time he was able to keep track of his man in the D zone.
