Not often this organization can get a top 4. Organization can't afford to miss on these types of players. I just hope they look at what went wrong internally and do something about it.

Meetings at the highest level to review the process, I am guessing. I have been informed that suggesting that this doesn’t look good on the Flames is ‘extreme’

Still think its massively premature to say something went wrong and that we were holding Bennett down.
He's clearly energized by the move but its also possibly the most favorable situation he could've possibly gone into. He gets shipped to a struggling team, I doubt it goes this well.
I'm waiting for a full season sample size. And even then, depth players have outlier seasons where things go their way.

The Conroy for Stillman trade is one. It was so bad that Iginla of all people sewered it in the paper.
Others I'd argue (at least a few of these ended up great you have to admit):
* Kent Nilsson for a 4th rounder (Nieuwendyk)
* Housley/Keczmer for Albelin, Hulse and Jocelyn Lemieux
* Nieuwendyk for Iginla/Millen (remember "Jarome Who?")
* Hoglund/Zalapski for Val Bure and a 4th
* Huselius for Montador (lots of complaining because Huselius was just on waivers)
* Baertschi for a 2nd (Rasmus Andersson)
* Lucic for Neal

Yes, what a play by Duclair. Iginla like power move off the boards.

Is this sarcasm on your part?
You might want to go back and read the first few pages of the Lindholm trade and your very comments.
Lucic is obviously another example.

If you are going to call back to something said a few days ago please get it right.
I said that this statement was extreme. As part of my point that the issue is that people on both side are arguing on the extremes.
"Face it, the Flames just blew it with their highest ever pick. There is no way the Flames turn out smelling like roses here"
The subtle jabs and little pot shots you like to take against those that happen to hold a different view than yours doesn't make for good discussion.

Yup pretty sure sarcasm.
The Sven/Andersson example is another one.

Agreed, but Florida is using a different approach to getting Sam using his "draft" skills. They also know how to motivate him. Something the Flames completely missed. While I see your point, you have to admit Florida is doing something the Flames failed to do.

Yes, that statement is looking to be correct. Clearly they got little value from their highest pick. It doesn’t look good on them
I don’t find it extreme at all

It’s also pretty easy to point at the culprit.
Gulutzan. Peters. Ward.
Three absolutely garbage hires by a GM that has proven himself to be a big pile of “bleh”.
Sutter got a lot out of Sam as a 4th line LW.
Quenneville is getting a lot out of Sam as a 2nd line C.

This is 90% of it but the other 10% of it is that the Flames have slow players like Lucic, Tkachuk, and Monahan. It's impossible for us to be a great checking team when teams can get pucks past these three regularly. And that's not to take away from their hockey sense, because obviously all three have great hockey sense. But they're slow.
I've contended for years, even going back to his rookie year, that Bennett plays best with a fast player on his line (guys like Mason Raymond and Austin Czarnik - not exactly our most talented players but simply our fastest) or two.

I'm liking this Heponiemi-Wennberg-Vatrano line tonight. Lots of good play at both ends.

Good for you. I don't have any desire to argue further about it. Except to say that people rarely find their own opinions to be extreme.
But if you are going to clap back on it. Be accurate.

I think at the suggestion was more toward how we talk to other people with differing opinions, not so much the disappointment with how things were handled.
I have a feeling we don't see Sam regress for awhile, and now that coach Q has seen as much he'd get benched if he badly takes his foot off the gas!

And I don’t see the particular statement you are looking for me to make
If you weren’t dropping this, I’d ask you to tell me what is extreme about saying the Flames don’t come out of this smelling good, and what on earth is inaccurate about calling back to a rephrasing of the same basic point .
Frankly it comes across like you want to argue with the poster more than the point, because it seems to be obviously correct

I used this statement as an example of people arguing on the extremes
""Face it, the Flames just blew it with their highest ever pick. There is no way the Flames turn out smelling like roses here""
Saying that 10 games after a trade, one that involves future picks, is premature at best.
Don't re-phrase my points. If you are going to call back to my points use my actual words instead of your inaccurate interpretation of them that you are using to make your pot shot.
You have a hard time understanding that someone can have a different opinion that you by saying things like "because it seems to be obviously correct".
Right now the trade doesn't look good for the Flames. Lots of time ahead though before that can be said with such certainty.
And to be clear I have no horse in the race. Sam always seemed like a great kid. I hope he does incredibly well and makes millions. And I hope the Flames draft a star with that pick.
