Yeah, you do, but it is such a hassle, have your quarter or your looney ready, then get it back and so on. The thing that really irritates me about the whole policy of charging for the use of their cart, even though you get it back, is you are almost treated like a criminal who has the intention of stealing the useless shopping cart.

I can't complain about the shopping cart deposit. I live a block from market mall and I get stupid shopping carts from zellers left on my drive way all the time. Never any safeway ones. The zellers one doesn't require any money. They need to make them all $2.

Nope, they need to provide customer service as Co-op does where your groceries are taken to your vehicle. And yes, I do know how to get my money back. It is just irritating to be treated like someone with criminal intent before you even step in their store.

The carts at Marlborough Walmart have wheels that lock when you try to take them into the rest of the mall. I saw a guy at Christmas just move to the front of the cart and lift it up and drag the cart through the mall. He (and his wife) could have carried the packages much easier. I thought that was weird.
I also don't think I would avoid a business just because of a commercial.
My wife took he previous car into Eastside Dodge after sliding into a curb. She asked for an estimate and told them she wasn't worried about the hub caps or anything. The quote was over $3000 and when she looked at it there was replacement hubcap along with other stuff (cosmetic) she specifically said she didn't want done. She Then they threatened they wouldn't let her leave. They finally relented, she took it to Blaskin and Lane (on 32nd & 32nd NE) and they fixed her car for $1400.

Actually, the reason they do it is to avoid having carts left willy-nilly in the parking lot, which is to save your vehicle as well as the carts from being damaged. They're treating you as lazy, not as a criminal. And the fact that you think it's a 'hassle' to put in a quarter and take it out again, tells me, they might just be on to something there...

My biggest issue is sometimes I don't have a quarter. I empty the change out of my pockets every day and don't always have the quarter.

That's why the superstore is the cheapest grocery store in town. They do whatever they can to keep costs low.
One bad thing I heard about superstore is that if you've been working there for a while and making good money they'll fire you and try to re-hire you at the starting salary. Does anyone work there? Is that true?

That's what the customer service desk is for. Actually, at the Safeway in Forest Lawn, I once went in with a toonie, asked for change for the cart and she told me not to worry about it and unlocked it with a gadget.

Same here. At least at Safeway the carts are inside so you can get change; or most of the time the CSR will just give you a quarter. With Superstore you have to go inside, get change, go back outside through a different door than you came in, get a cart, then come back in.
I don't have much of an issue with carts; my issue with grocery stores in the hand baskets- and the fact that they sometimes look so dirty that I wouldn't ever think of putting food in there.

The only place that makes me mad thinking about it is U-Haul. BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON W5!
The service I got picking up a truck and car carrier was the absolute worst I have ever experience (or even heard of).
We called the night before to confirm our reservation and were told everything was OK. When we went to pick up our truck the next day they gave us a piece of junk and said we had to drive 45 minutes away to pick up our car carrier and could trade in the truck for a better one.
At this time, I wasn’t ****ed off too bad so I just drove to the new shop. When we got there I was pleased to discover they only had a Tow Dolly for me and no spare trucks. A tow-dolly only picks up the front 2 wheels of you car and drags it on the rear wheels rather than picking up the whole car (that’s 2,000 unnecessary KMs on the rear wheels of my car). I explained my situation and produced my printed confirmation but the clerk just said “nothing I can do” and walked away from me. I asked to see the manager. When I demanded a new truck the manager just gave a small laugh and walked away from me. I followed him out back and grabbed him, let’s just say my wife had to physically stop me from punching a manager in the face.
I had 3 friends who took the Thursday off work (it was now about 3:00 pm) and they were waiting outside my house in 34 degree sunshine. With our house sold and my wife having to be at her new job in on Monday we didn’t have time to stick around and fight.
The move home from Toronto to Halifax in “the death trap on wheels" was not a fun trip. The A/C wasn’t working, when we opened the windows we couldn’t yell over the noise. The starter was shot, it would start when it wanted to, around every 30-45 key turns (yes it was a diesel but it wasn’t the glow plug), the engine leaked oil and the gas gauge didn’t work. This resulted in our stopping at gas stations more often to ensure not running out of diesel, and then each stop took forever to start the truck again.
The window behind our heads had a crack in it (not even sure why there was a window, you could only see the box of the truck) and the seats only came up to our shoulders with no head rests. Accident = back of heads through glass.
In the end I did get some of my money back from their office here in Halifax but it didn't really make up for it.

Blockbuster. I used to trade in stuff there for credit for game purchases, but when they didn't get in Mario Kart for the DS, I spent my credit and haven't spent a dime there since. I mean, Blockbuster advertises it's Game Zone (or whatever) stores as specializing in videogames. It's frikkin' Mario Kart, not some obscure Japanime title or something! Idiots.
I bag and carry my stuff at least 50% of the time at Co-Op anyway. The labor shortage is affecting service at all grocery stores I would imagine. As I worked at Co-Op during my University days, I estimate I'm still a more competent service clerk than roughly 75% of the people who work there now anyway.

When my wife moved to Calgary from Winnipeg (before we had met) her U-Haul broke down an hour outside of Calgary. U-Haul told her they couldn't come until the next day, so she and a friend (2 early twenties women) had to wait overnight.

I have a really weak stomach so when something "icky" happens at a restaurant, I won't go back. Just to name a few: Subway, Tony Roma's, Moxie's.

Wow you guys are daredevils. I wouldn't drive a uhaul if you paid me. Their trucks are dangerous.
Unless you are moving a grand piano I'd say stick with a cargo van from Enterprise. Maybe a few more trips but their vans are usually brand new and it's unlimited kms.

I think the only place I won't buy from is The Brick. Because it's owned by the Comrie family and I HATE MIKE COMRIE.

I bought one of those Superstore coins for a dollar, it sits in my vehicle so I always have somethign to unlock the carts.
I will never buy another appliance from the Bay. Got the runaround, they told me they had a stove in stock and I waited almost a month and ended up with the floor model with a "free extended warranty". 6 months later, they called to tell me my stove was in. Should have had them deliver the damn thing so I'd get a two for one.
I will never buy a Hyundai, I don't care who much they've improved their vehicles, the one I had in the 80's was a pile of crap.
Chevrolet will also never get my business for refusing to fix my wife's lemon (and I told her not to buy one in the first place.....). We ended up having to eat a few hundred dollars just to trade it in.
