Oilers media embarrasses itself pretty regularly.
This stat really highlights how pathetic their depth scoring (or crappy defence) is. Have the top two point getters in the league, with the first one being heads and shoulders above everyone else point wise, and still be bottom half of the league in GF%.

That looks like a penalty both ways to me. Oil fans should be glad it wasn't called that way too; your best 4 on 4 player is in the box if they do.

McDavid needs to STFU and play through this kind of thing, no different than any other superstar in the league. Stop looking for calls and play the game.

100%

He's telling Oil fans not to be homers and look at it for what it is.

That being said, he still sucks.

No matter how bad the season has been. God dam do I ever love beating that one man team. If he doesn’t create it all they are an average team. Such a good feeling

You might be right, but I don't really trust him to be anything more than a Oiler homer.

And he looked disinterested from the first shift (or at least the first goal). Why on earth would he play so much in basically a nothing game?

(Keep playing them Tippett. Maybe some more, 33 minutes for each of Crysaitl and McDingus should get them some points. Abuse right up to the playoffs)

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Wow Mangi just about had a top five goal of the year with that move on Bear.

The Oilers have scored 24 more goals than the Flames this season.

The Flames have 8 players with at least 20 points, the Oilers have 7. The Flames have 12 players with at least 10 points, the Oilers have 10.

World class derpth.

If the oilers had even just below average depth scoring, and a halfway competent defence, they’d be dangerous.

Rasmus is having a down year. He’d be lauded on the Oilers. Gio is sliding (much better these days though). He’d be head and shoulders above their best D.

Sam Bennett had 12 points when traded. He was widely seen as a flop. 12 points (even without discounting the missing games) puts him 8th in scoring on Edmonton (12th in Calgary).

It’s better to look at goals though, because points are a little artificial (lots of secondary assists giving McDavid a puck coming out of your end). Lucic has more goals than Yamamoto. So does Dube. Mangiapane has one less than the Tenderness.

I'll take Michaels and De Brusk any day over those clowns Quinn and Remenda. Still lots of oilers pom-pom waving, but both actually gave the Flames some credit during the broadcast last night.
I don't mind the Michaels energy, but he just picks arbitrary times to suddenly ramp up the energy and volume. It's like his cocaine suddenly kicked in.

They should just recognize quality and go with Ball all the time when they can. Give Oiler fans a treat. Hrudey has flaws but he’s a bit better than Debrusk IMO (maybe just experience).

McDavid and Draisaitl pointless. Draisaitl with the -3 on the night.

Sweet, sweet victory.
It seems like the Flames, under Sutter, have improved at playing against teams with their goalie pulled.
Draisaitl looked very timid when he was getting hit, same as McDavid. Love it when our team is aggressive with their stars.

Plus they had no Kassian, no Khaira (and if I were him I’d stay out of fights), whereas the Flames have Lucic, Ritchie, Robinson, Stone, Tkachuk at a minimum. And Monahan can also go another round with RNH.

Draisaitl is the biggest wimp in the NHL. He loves to troll the boards and stand up smaller players. He refuses to fight or get hit himself though.

I always like to beat the ######bags up the QEII, but that was a nothing game and could have contributed to a better draft position. Not cheering for the team to lose, but when you're not making the playoffs, do everything in your power to secure a better draft position. Opportunity lost?

Some of you guys act like losing a couple games will get them 1st overall...look at the standings there won't be much movement.

I would rather the Flames top players have a great last 7 games and continue to boost their stock.
