Ugh. I just noticed that the Seahawks only have 3 picks this year.
That is not ideal.

It would literally cost the Packers more against the cap if he was traded then if they dig their heels in. Of course one option is a re-structure/re-sign and THEN trade which seems like it is the only option.

That doesn't really matter so much. Per OverTheCap, if they trade him this year, they save $5.6M against this year's cap (which they can roll over to next year) and about $23M against the cap next year. If they wait until next year to trade him, they "only" save about $15.8M next year. They're currently projected at about $8M over the cap for next year, so the time to trade him would be now
If they choose not to trade him, he could be a total dick and just retire after June 1st, which would have the same cap implications for next year as trading him next year would.

Yea, it does seem a divorce is imminent. He has played 1 year of his 4 year contract extension and is upset the Packers won't commit to him. Okay then...
It is obviously not a contract issue.

I think I want it to be the Raiders just for the domino effect. Would make things pretty crazy at that point.

The Dolphins should be all over this, they have the capital to get it done and can probably pick up another first rounder for Tua.

This is all the Packers fault for botching things. Love wasn't even a great QB prospect and it made no sense to take him in the 1st round if they were actually trying to win now with Rogers. It seems like some in the building must have got the feeling Rogers was in decline and prematurely kicked off the succession plan. Not even telling Rogers was even more foolish as they should have at least notified him that they were possibly looking at drafting a QB to back him up. They had to know with his prickly personality that he was never going to take that well and yet they still did it and now they have to deal with the mess they created.

Boy 49er fans having been through the cycle since that trade up eh? First thoughts were trading up for Fields or Lance, then a month of Mac Jones is definitely the guy, then Lance becomes the betting favorite this morning, and they may end up with Aaron Rodgers after all of this.

I have a hard time seeing the Packers trading him within the NFC.

I get that, but I don’t see an offer better than 3rd OA as a base and the +’s attached to it.

The Packers are surely in rebuild if they trade Rodgers, taking a lesser offer just to "avoid" him in the NFC is odd because they likely aren't a factor in winning the NFC for the remainder of Rodgers career (assuming he retires at 41-42). Take the best package and be done with it.

Nah, without him that team barely makes the playoffs or doesn't so by the time they re-load, 3-5 years, he'll be done with football anyways. Take the best offer.

I don't believe the Niners would offer the 3rd overall pick for a 37 year old Rodgers. Then again I can't believe they would spend that pick on Mac Jones either so who knows...

If Love is even passable as a QB, they'd have a bounty of picks + the rookie contract advantage + $30M in cap space in a year with a lot of quality FAs. Could be a very quick turnaround for them.

I don’t view it as something the 49ers should do either, but it’s overpayment for one of the best QBs in the game. They already have assembled a great team and miss an elite QB to really put them over the top. Rodgers in SF puts themselves ahead of LAR, AZ, and SEA in their division. All 3 teams have elite QBs so I think that’s why the 49ers are willing to part with that pick.

It could yeah, but part of me thinks if Love had shown anything meaningful in practice they probably would have dealt Rodgers before free agency to try and maximize the return. Now half the teams who could have been in are out. But you can't take a lesser offer on one of the greatest QBs ever just out of fear you might have to beat him in the NFC. You might have to beat him to win a Super Bowl even if you trade him to the AFC. I mean a big part of why Rodgers wants out is the Packers front office being kinda ####. Them being kinda #### in trading him would be fitting though.
