Yep, one bad week or run into a hot goalie and you're done.

There it is- crysaitl on with an EN to pad his stats. Would serve a team right to have an injury to a star scorer for having them on in that situation. Trying to get a guy to complete a hat trick with an EN is one thing. Pure greed and stat padding- gtfo.

How so? By no means am I saying anybody should try to injure them or anything. If you are a team who’s success is 100% dependent on two players for offence and you are within view of the playoffs, why would your scoring superstar be on in that situation? Other team is desperate and going for broke trying to get the puck- injuries happen. If the flames were in the oilers situation in the standings I certainly wouldn’t want gaudreau on. If he was and got hurt there’d be a hell of a lot of finger pointing at the coach...

Andrew Ference with 3 points on 3 goals
seriously someone is going to Bobby Clarke this guy in the playoffs...they really are nothing without him.

It's good to watch other teams sometimes, I'm finding. The Avs just went 5 minutes without a shot on goal while down by 2 and under 10 minutes left in the third period in a game fighting for 1st place. Even great teams can be shut down when their opponents play good defence.

2 Flames wins + 2 Habs losses this week then maybe you could say that.
We've simply eliminated the Habs games in hand. Still 6 points up with not enough runway realistically.

It all comes down to where things sit when the Flames start the Vancouver series...if they are within 8 points its not out of the question
Vancouver will be on fumes by then and likely have nothing to play for

Wow, Cam Fowler just scored an absolutely beautiful goal with under a minute left in the third to give them the 3-2 lead.

Only up by one trying to hold on to a lead. You put your best players on. Idiotic comment wishing an injury

Teams usually put your best defensive players on the ice...I mean they can put whoever they want I kinda agree but this isn't game 7 of the finals either. Does McDavid play PK? Its basically having him out there on a PK which is pretty risky in a game that doesn't mean a whole lot IMO.
One blocked shot could end the Oilers season

Just fighting for positioning. Still an important game. Not clinched yet. Not sure who was all out there but since Drai does kill penalties I’d imagine it was 4 Pkers and 97

This is obviously the guy I was talking about...the others are irrelevant lol
If I was a coach he wouldn't be out there short handed unless the game was make or break

Darn. It'll be tougher to catch LA in the reverse standings now.
Still very possible though.

The Sharks lead 3-2 midway through the third period. San Jose is playing hang on as they were up 3-0 in the first period.
The Blues with a nice comeback over the Wild.

Far be it for me to stick up for an Oiler fan, but stang is right. If they're up by 4 or 5 and putting out the studs to pad their stats that's one thing, putting them out with a 1 goal lead? Meh, a lot of teams do it. They are by far the Oilers' best players. No surprise they're out there.

I know. Why wouldn’t you put put the best player in the game? Such a ridiculous take.
I mean he grabbed possession of the puck, passed it, and they scored to cement a very close game. And that’s not the right play?

I never said they shouldn't do it...I wouldn't though
wow they won a game...now instead of playing the Jets in the playoffs they will play the Jets in the playoffs.
I wouldn't be playing McDavid short handed right now...nothing about padding stats ect. I wouldn't want to have him break an ankle and then have to forfeit the playoffs.

Sure, I get the injury part of it. But home ice is pretty important too, even without fans. If they have home ice clinched and do the same thing I'd probably agree with you a bit more.
