What's the rules with him and expansion draft? When is he eligible to be taken?

Hopefully:
Giordano-Tanev
Valimaki-Anderson
Kylington-Stone
But probably Nesterov-Stone as the third pairing because reasons?
We really, really, really need Valimaki to rise to this occasion.

Will they make a few mistakes? Sure. Hanifin does, too.
I am curious if Sutter goes with two RD on the second PK unit though.

I believe that Stone’s minutes will increase a lot.

At least it's been multiple coaches so we can't just blame it on a personal vendetta.
I've said for a long time he doesn't use his best attribute (speed) when he gets the puck. Huge issue.
I wouldn't rule out Mackey as well ... he's played a lot of minutes this year at the AHL level.

On a somewhat related note, it's great to see Michael Stone come into the lineup and play well, after so long with no game action. Exactly what we need right now, and he's stepped up.

Maybe we'll see a few more games with 7D/11F?

He still gets his name inscribed on the Cup, right?

I'd like to see Mackey get some playing time after getting some big minutes in the AHL now.

Mackey over Kylington if it comes down to playing time. Calling it now.

It’s ok though, Stone has been good. It will be interesting to see if we see Kylington at all or just more Nesterov

Ah but we agree that would have been the wrong call given the probability that they make the playoffs (which is still below 20% I believe) right?

If he isn’t protected he will be exposed no matter what and will be eligible to be taken.
By not playing him though the book is really out on him and Seattle won’t know a lot about him, in theory.

Sucks to hear about Hanifin - he has taken a huge step forward defensively for this team, and I think he is fairly strong on the transition too. He will be missed.
However, lucky for the Flames that they have Stone and that he has been playing very well for them. Helpful that Nesterov has had quite a number of games under his belt, though I wish Kylington had some more as well under Sutter. However, that's pretty good built-in depth right now. Stone has really been solid.

It makes me wonder that now with the Flames playing a bit faster, if we don't see an improvement in Kylington and how he fits. Maybe forcing the issue with him will play to his strengths.

That really sucks about Hanifin. His best season as a Flame for sure and, as many have pointed out, one of the few bright spots this year.
I'd be very surprised if Kylington got an opportunity over Nestorov, but that is what I would prefer to see. Not a fan of Nestorov's game as there is nothing that I find he does very well. Add to that, he's started taking bad penalties at bad times recently.

Kylington is fast, but I’m not sure he is good at playing fast, which IMO is more about quick decision making and execution. He might be but I haven’t really seen it yet. But be ready for huge mistakes if he does, because the quick decision may not always pan out. I’m pretty forgiving of those kind of mistakes though.

Having Stone is a bonus now.....Darryl doubled his playing minutes last game didn't he?
I'd love to see Mackey in.....used in all situations and I liked what I've seen.
He isn't shy to play a tough game and has a howitzer for a shot and his GAF meter is high so no need to worry about 3xtra incentives with him.
I don't know what the cap math says about this though and whether it'll work .
Just win baby.

Really sorry to hear and wishing Noah all the best for a speedy recovery.
He laid the groundwork for a solid D with Tanvev, now it's up to others to step up and carry the boys into the playoffs.
