They have an uphill battle but it’s not over. Montreal is that bad .

Going on a huge run and missing the playoffs by a couple points, drafting in the middle of the pack, and making zero changes because we went 8-2 down the stretch and now everyone thinks that's our "real" team... this is pretty much the dictionary definition of the Calgary Flames.

Flames always have just enough luck, and just enough things go right to be decidedly average at best.

I look at a team like the Rangers playing good hockey trying to chase down a team like the Bruins to make playoffs as exciting.

Part of why we have a chance is because Montreal isn’t very good either. We might make the playoffs with an 86 point pace in the worst division in the league. Not overly exciting and fully expect if this winning continues that no major changes will happen this summer

I'm just happy that I can watch good meaningful hockey during the pandemic. There is enough negativity in the world that I'm not going to be upset that the team I cheer for has found their groove with a new coach and style of play.

Dealing with the losses is tough enough, but it must really suck to not even be able to enjoy the wins.

I enjoy the wins, because I'm an idiot and a glutton for punishment I guess. For some reason, after 30 years of this crap, I still have hope that the Flames will pull this miracle off, squeak into the playoffs and go on an incredible run.

I hope for it.

Realistically though? I know it's much more likely all they're doing right now is losing draft position by winning games that ultimately won't matter because they'll more than likely fall short in heartbreaking fashion.

Mission accomplished the last two games but all they’ve really done is forced a game 7.

These wins are pointless unless Monday is a win.

And then it’s basically round 2 to close out the year if so.

I find it acceptable to cheer for losses when you're mathematically eliminated.

Until then...

And honestly? Calgary can take the Maple Leafs too. I’ll get roasted for this but only team that scares me is the Oil.
I don't think they can. It would be nice to get in over Montreal but either one of these teams is going to get dummied by the Leafs.

There's going to be changes regardless of what happens. It just might not be as many changes as some people hoped for but I think that was unrealistic to think anyway. They aren't a contender but they aren't as horrible as some on here like to think they are.

This is still a team who massively underachieved this season and as much criticism as Treliving deserves I don't think he's dumb enough to just think he doesn't need to change anything because they ended up barely making the playoffs.

And although he's not the GM I think Treliving respects Sutter enough to get input from him and Darryl isn't going to tell him everything is fine.

And if there is a GM change he's going to want to make changes.

Honestly? It does suck.

This isn’t a playoff team or even close to a Stanley cup team. So winning these games it’s pretty much lose lose which makes a team at this stage the hardest to be a fan of.

I don’t know man the playoffs are a different beast. The Flames would be coming in as the hottest team in the league and would have the benefit of winning the goaltending battle and I like the chances of Sutter vs Keefe. I think it is a toss up

I don’t agree mainly due to the draft being a crapshoot this year. The flames either make the playoffs or they don’t but winning these games makes it seem like it is possible.

I for one am happy the next game means something and if this team does make the playoffs they have the ingredients to go on a run with Sutter and a goalie with the ability to be among the best in the league if he is on.

The Flames top players actually looking like top players down the stretch is far more valuable than a few draft spots up.
