Citizen is one of our favorite craft breweries in Calgary. Good food and their beer selection matches our taste palates more than most places.

Not quite local, but if you're ever 15 mins from downtown in Airdrie.
Jam's Airdrie does an awesome breakfast. They make most of everything in house or get it locally. I know they're hurting from the latest shutdown and aren't able to setup a patio or anything. Say hi to Chef Brad there, he's also one of the ones that created the menu at Citizen.

Last summer we went to Citizen for a pint and something to eat on their patio. We had had their beer, but never their food. I had forgotten my reading glasses (old guy problem) and couldn't really read their menu. I could make out "Big Mack" and though, hmm - I like a Big Mac so sure! We sat down and shortly thereafter had the experience of - hey, that is a huge burger they are bringing to someone, oh lord they are bringing it to me. It is an absolute monster, but super tasty. I got through about half of it, took the rest home to gnaw on the next day.

I'm impressed you ate half of a Big Mack. That thing is enormous when it comes out of the kitchen

The one time we did dine in at Annabelle's we did not find it to be noisy, but that could also be a one off. Their patio also has a nice atmosphere given the area is quite busy but not on a main street. The food is on the pricier end for the portion sizes which means Sauce tends to win out most night.

We were indoors pre-covid and it’s just a very reflective room

Saw on Facebook that Booker’s BBQ crab shack is moving locations. Landlord wouldn’t work with them so they are relocating. Location TBD.
Booker’s was always a Teacher’s Convention staple!

Booker's didn't burn down. It's on the north side as soon as you enter downtown from the 4th Ave flyover.

Selfishly I'd love to see them move into the vacant Tony Roma's location on 130th Ave but I doubt that's a location or building that would align with their model. One can hope...

I am aware of where it is. That building is surrounded by a fence and looks to have caught fire.

It was a weird article on CTV though. They thought that they had an agreement with the landlord and weren't able to pay rent because of Covid, so they were evicted on short notice. They're looking for other space now.

It’s still standing and not burned down. Perhaps the building next door?

Celebrated Square Root Day

Oh man, I stopped for Ogam Chicken across from Chinook Centre again. Sooooooo good. Upon a second try that is my vote for best fried chicken in Calgary (korean style). And the fries and gravy were top notch, too.
Will make sure to add it into the rotation more often.

I thought I heard Starbelly group is doing something with that building. I might be wrong because they have Pinkdoor and Calavera right down the road.
