Florida has done an incredible job adding forwards this season for low costs.

Still not sold on the Bennett trade for them. But they added Duclair, Wennberg, Gusev, and Verhaeghe all for free and managed to swindle Pittsburgh in the Hornqvist trade.

If Sam does light it up with Florida, I am sure there will be lot of questions about what is wrong with the Flames building strategy.

Neal scored 13 goals in his first 10 or so games with the Oilers...a lot of carts before horses here

If he has 50+ points next season after a good playoffs we can start blaming the Flames

It's not just the points though.

As a center he's simply making things happen. Winning faceoffs, turning pucks over in the D zone, turning pucks over in the neutral zone (which is how that first goal he scored happened btw), making clean exit plays.

Bennett again. Wow, that was horrid defense, just left Sam all alone. Torts is probably losing his mind. All Sam had to do was bat the rebound in to the empty net.

Good for Sam for driving the net. Too bad we didn't see more of that here consistently.

I think what applies to Bennett can also be applied to the Flames team. Yes, he's experienced a surge from the trade itself, but I think it's also a confidence issue that the Flames are lacking as a whole.

Mony, Chucky, Backlund are not as bad as they appear to be playing right now, and a run of sustained success will lead to a confidence boost that could make this team look elite. I don't know if it will come in time this season or not, but if this team shakes off the dark clouds hanging over them, we'll all be saying how it looks like a completely a different team.

The power of positivity, and it will seem like pucks are going in, and bounces are going in our favour.

Bennett is a better player than he showed in Calgary. He was a 4th overall selection for a reason. I don’t think he will be a point a game player or close but I think he could easily be a 40-50 point player during a full season in the right situation (Florida). Playing with Huberdeau opens up a ton of space for him. He hasn’t played with someone that good regularly in his pro career.
