Im all for the positive vibes but with the Flames best effort all they do is go from a 6-8 pick to a 13-15 pick

In a unprecedented draft class (what percentage of them are even playing a normal schedule?) that is basically anyone’s best guess. Keep going for it.

It's such a weird schedule.. The Flames and Canadiens play each other 3 times in a row, which the Flames definitely have to win at least 2 of.
The Canadiens play the Oilers 4 more times... it feels weird to cheer for the Oilers so I won't do that, I'll just cheer against the Canadiens.
They also play Toronto 4 more times, which are very difficult games.
The Canadiens end their season on May 12th, after which the Flames have four straight against the Canucks... Who will definitely be out of it by then, but probably wanting to play spoiler.
We're 6 points back now, say we're 5 points back by the time that series against the Canucks comes around - I absolutely think the Flames win 3 of 4 to get in.

If the flames keep playing the way they have in the last for games they will catch the habs.
Montreal is the worst team of the playoff teams. I think at this point in the season calgary and ottawa are better than they are.

Flames elimination number 10
Habs elimination number 17
12 games remaining.
The three games this week will decide things.

Flames 9
Habs 16
11 games left.
Technically still in it. But they don’t get things done when it matters. Ottawa should be in the playoffs instead of the flames or habs.
Vancouver still actually probably has a shot.

In a league where teams get 1 point on some nights, you have to look at it in terms of points, not simply in terms of wins. That said...
The Flames' magic number for elimination drops to 16.
The Habs' magic number for elimination drops to 32.

More than a shot
Van is 1 game below .500
Cgy is 4 games below .500
Suppose Calgary takes all 3 vs Montreal
All things being equal, they are basically even then, and the series against Van now matters
Guess what? If they lose at all against Mtl, Van is in better shape
Wizardry in action

I think the Flames magic number is 17 because the Flames can only get to 63 points while the Habs have 47 points and need to get to 64 points to eliminate the Flames.
The Canucks magic number is 27. The Canucks can only get to 73 points maximum and the Habs have 47 points.

Fair enough; I assumed that a tie in points eliminates both teams (even though one team will make it) because we can't be entirely sure which team will win the tiebreak. So because of that I would put the Canucks number at 26.

Flames number to be eliminated by habs 8
Habs number to be eliminated by the flames 16
11 games left.
They have to win all 3 games against mtl or 2 and get a lot of help.
Not looking good. Vancouver has a better chance.

I really thought that this was going to be a good year and would have never predicted this outcome. It's not over yet but still, you can see where it's going.

It’s over.
Just not mathematically. They’ll drag it out in pure flames style.
But it’s over.
