It depends what the centre was already doing. The play started behind the net, and there were guys right in front. Usually the centre is taking one of those guys. I’ve actually seen D have to track a winger like Toffoli out to the blue line.
ETA: Replay, probably Ryan’s guy. He wasn’t doing anything else.

Well maybe. When I saw it, it seemed to me that the winger was engaged and Ryan was on the offside where he shouldn't have been.
Toffoli was on the doorstep when he shot, not even high slot I'd say.
But I could be wrong. Easily.

Another good period by the Flames. 4 goal posts!! How the heck does that happen? Man alive.
Can they break Allen? Need some grease in front of him.
Don't have any real complaints about any Flames player so far. They're all working their butts off.
If they go down, at least they'll go down swinging it looks like. It's all I can ask for after what they put us through this season.
Edit: And I am okay with losses. We could really use a top 10 pick.

Not impressed with lack of situational awareness.
Earlier in the period flames got in a change and had montreal out there tired and deep, sent one forechecker, montreal easily passes it out and dumps and changes.
End of period there, 5 seconds left and Ritchie dumps it in corner off the rush.
If you can’t read and react off certain moments that might call for a deviation from the script, you will waste opportunities.
