I looked at Lowry's underlying numbers...and jeeze, they aren't good. I guess being big really is a thing that gets you paid in this league.
Over the last 3 seasons:
CF%: 48.55
SF%: 48.67
GF%: 50.76
xGF%: 46.76
SCF%: 46.79
HDCF%: 44.61
HDGF%: 50.65

I'm surprised he isn't better with the advanced stats.
Just based on the eye-test, he seems to play pretty well when he's playing against Calgary.
Good for him for getting paid, this will likely be the biggest contract of his career.

Wish Calgary could get a player like that on that deal. Lowry is everything this team needs.

Statistically has a lot in common with Sam Bennett. I can see why you like him.
Sorry, couldn't resist that. But it happens to be true.

With the flat cap for another year or two this seems like an overpay to me. It's not a boat anchor or anything but still seems a bit high.

I agree. It feels like too much for too long.

The amateur economist that resides inside of me says that Players like Adam Lowry should not be given contracts longer than 3 years.
He seems like a good guy, and he's a decent player. He's also in Winnipeg which will always struggle to get older guys to commit to playing there unless they offer something someone else won't.

That's some kinda anti-Bennett bias.

Last 3 seasons:
Bennett:
Regular Season: 161GP, 25G, 51 PTS
Playoffs: 15GP, 6G, 13 PTS

SF%: 50.43
GF%: 44.44
xGF%: 51.86
SCF%: 52.96
HDCF%: 51.98
HDGF%: 44.30
Lowry:
Regular Season: 171 GP, 24G, 53 PTS
Playoffs: 10 GP, 2G, 4pts
CF%: 48.55
SF%: 48.67
GF%: 50.76
xGF%: 46.76
SCF%: 46.79
HDCF%: 44.61

Sam Bennett is the flat out better player. Bennett also plays about an average of 2 minutes less per game.
But Lowry is 4 inches taller, and taller = gooder to some hockey minds.

#### I'm sick of hearing about Sam Bennett. Sam Bennett has never contributed to a winner in this league. His best games are when the team has been horrible. He worst games are when the team is playing well. Coincidence? Nope. Adam Lowry is one of those straws that stirs the drink in Winnipeg. He's a guy that actually contributes to the Jets success, kind of like Joel Otto with the Flames back in the day. They guy doesn't put up impressive numbers, but his size and shutdown ability makes him very valuable. For the role he is cast into he gets the job done. He usually on the ice for more goals scored for than goals against, something St. Bennettdictine could never say in his career. Not even remotely close players.

You just can't let a comment about Bennett go, can you?
Bennett is a solid 3rd line player who will definitely help the Panthers in the playoffs.

He's only been on one team in this league, and it wasn't good enough to win. You can say the same for hundreds of others – but you don't.
What exactly have the Jets won with Lowry?

Interesting numbers. Ultimately, the bolded is probably most significant, though?
Also noteworthy that Lowry is 3+ years older, though only in the league 1 extra year. The last 3 years were arguably more his 'prime' compare to Sam.

Not sure the best site to find his combined advanced stats

No real dog in this fight but how is Winnipeg considered successful during Lowry’s time?
