Of course we're all desensitized to it. Me personally, unless it's double digits I basically don't even pay attention, unless the circumstances are unique. But 8 people killed at work? Doesn't even rate slightly. And it's disgusting to think about it like that, but it is what it is.

Columbine only because it was the first big one 20+ years ago. But really, Parkland was no different.

Yeah, unfortunately this is true. Everything in America is a political issue, even the shooting of 6 years olds. Remember Dunblane in Scotland? Great Britain immediately changed their gun laws.

They just had 45 mass shootings in one month and moving forward they will do nothing about it.

It really is the wild west down there (U.S) still. So many people dying and getting killed senselessly. Someone needs to step up and do something already!
When you look at the current proposals, they're very minor and even if approved will do little to stop carnage and gun violence.

It blew me away to read, “this is the biggest mass shooting since March 22.”

Wow.

More and more states are relaxing gun laws. Like carrying without a license.

https://www.deseret.com/utah/2021/2/...t-opinion-poll

Quote:
Utah joined 16 states that allow concealed carrying of firearms without a permit. The others are Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, North Dakota (residents only) and Wyoming (residents only).
Four other states allow permitless concealed carry with certain limitations: Illinois, Montana, New Mexico and Washington.
Texas is next. Passed today

Re:#988

It's more than likely their response to end gun violence, arm more people and make it easier for people to carry guns.
They need to start eliminating guns and buying guns back.

Yeah... people think I’m joking or exaggerating when I say I will not travel there. It has nothing to do with thinking I’ll get shot. I have no interest supporting tourism in absolute cluster#### countries, and that is one of them.

I have family/close friends that live in California, Colorado, Texas and honestly I am worried about their safety.

To be clear, I don’t lack empathy for the people. It’s actually the exact opposite. Spending money and free time there like it’s some kind of wonderland is ####ed up to me. Fix your #### and protect your people.

That’s what I meant. Police can just say, “they had a gun; had to protect myself”.

I read your post the right way.

I am scared for my friends and family.

I have some that live less than 5 mins from:

Columbine
Auroa
Arapahoe
Highland Ranch

In fact in July 2012 we were there when the theatre shooting happened.

Its amazing to me that half of American's don't realize how destructive the gun issue is and how it bleeds into many of their other problems. You've got an armed populace and police force, each of whom are nervous about interacting with the other. What could go wrong?
People as a species aren't rational and unemotional enough to be able to have every single person in a population carry around guns and not have constant murder. Its just obvious.

And on top of that there's people who will seriously argue the solution is more guns.

This will likely sound ridiculous, but I was in the states (California) early last year for the first time in 15+ years. We went to the grocery store the first day we were there and I was hyper sensitive thinking "everyone has a gun strapped to them here, I don't want to accidentally bump someone with my trolley". That silly fear died away by the next day and everyone I had dealings with were nice and friendly, but it's a weird thought that most people are packing deadly weapons on them at the store or mall or wherever.
