I don't think this trade is as lopsided as others believe.

Mantha certainly had his opportunity with Larkin, just didn’t ‘produce enough.

But the market dictated that Mantha had more value than Vrana.

I expect Msntha to start scoring quite a bit more.

Anthony Mantha doesn't have a playoff resume, but Vrana has exactly 0 points in his last 15 playoff games.

Caps are probably betting that Mantha will bring more when it matters.

Vrana's stats look great but he's playing on a stacked team with great linemates and when the game gets tough, he isn't producing lately.

I can see why the Caps paid a premium for Mantha.

Remember Mantha was a star for Canada at the last World Championships, he was the most dominant player. Mantha's upside is way higher than Vrana's.

And yes, size and toughness does matter, especially in the playoffs.

Mantha is a power forward. Vrana is a skilled winger.

While I agree that Mantha is probably the best player in the deal he is absolutely not “add a 1st, a 2nd, and Richard Panik” better than Vrana.

This is just a dumb move on Washington’s part.

I was mad, cuz I wanted US to get Mantha. He's just what we could use-huge, mean, scoring RW. The price they paid though.....

Panic had negative value, especially theses days. I think you are underestimating the cost to Washington to dump him.

Don’t be shocked at the number of points Mantha picks up with new line mates.

I had Tampa winning the cup again, but this might push Washington over. They have added size and grit with their moves (which includes Raffl, who I always liked for some unknown reason).

Mantha may not always play a big man's game, but he does when motivated. If Washington can get Mantha to bring that in the playoffs, I think that team becomes my favourite to win.

They may have spent a lot, but I think they are a bigger and heavier team that continues being skilled. Ovechkin, Wilson, Mantha - that's going to be difficult to stop in the playoffs, not counting the skill they have, and the grit they have in their bottom 6. That's a team built for the playoffs. If they can bring it all together, I think they win the cup.

I can’t help but think of the Flames when I look at teams like Washington and Tampa. There is no way we can stack up against these beasts.

Just to get there we would have Vegas and Colorado to get through.

Just makes me sad or envious; I don’t know. Tough cheering for the Flames some days.

Does Vrana have to quarantine?
