I'm glad the Flames didn't sign this guy. Let's do it again this off-season!

I don't think it has anything to do with that. They tend to play a lot of those early weekend games that Sportsnet picks up, and they were one of the original 6 teams. If you lived in the West and didn't like the Canadiens or Maple Leafs in the 70's...chances are you likely were a Bruins fan.

Was really hoping that Hall would go to Edmonton. I don't see Edmonton as a contender, and adding Hall wouldn't move the needle nearly far enough to be considered even close. Was hoping that they would throw assets away this trade deadline on their smoke and mirrors season, and then watch as Hall signs elsewhere in the off-season.

I'm good with this. The Bruins were my team before the Flames moved to Calgary. Hopefully Hall gets them into the playoffs and on a long run.

well obviously...contenders are usually above .500 against playoff teams

If Foligno can get a first I have no idea how Buffalo couldn’t get a 1st for Hall.
He’s going to score 7 goals before the end of the season in Boston.

When a player with a full NMC tells you the teams he is willing to waive for, your ability to extract full value for him dries up.
Pretty clear in this case that Hall was deciding where he was going to play the rest of the year...so you send out the feelers to those teams (if there is more than one) and take the best package available or lose the asset for nothing in a couple months.

An asset that cost you nothing to begin with. Anything they got was a win, they weren’t re-signing him.

Guess the rumours were true that without an extension Hall was only worth a 2nd. Boston did well on this . Lazar is also an upgrade on Bjork

This makes the Rittich return look a little better. From Hart Trophy to being worth a 2nd round pick in three years. Is there something weird with this guy or is he just declining early? I guess it's become a little more clear why he had to settle for a one year deal with the Sabres as teams seem to be a little spooked.

I prefer the notion that Edmonton tried to get him but Hall wouldn't have it

There’s nothing that would surprise me anymore. For all I know there was a first round pick on the table somewhere else and these morons went with the Boston deal cause they think Anders Bjork is gonna be a star.

Hall pretty much saying that the Bruins was one of the few teams he would have waived his NMC for
John Vogl @BuffaloVogl
Taylor Hall says the no-movement clause really helped him become a Bruin. It was a team that he really wanted to join and really want to be a part of.
He declines to say what other trades (if any) Kevyn Adams brought to him

It's hard to give up a first based on him turning it around out of the blue.
He's also 4 years removed from his MVP year and has had several shortened campaigns due to injury. It's possible that he's not that good anymore and is beginning his decline. He is 29, and players sometimes can drop off quickly heading into their 30s.
His point totals have been consistent to recent years except for the goal scoring, which seems to have dropped off the map. It's possible it doesn't come back.

On background, Taylor Hall apparently did have options. Throughout the process, Kevyn Adams did present other opportunities to Hall...Taylor chose to go to Boston.

Considering based on reports that Hall's NTC decided that it was basically Boston or nothing, can't blame the GM for the deal.

Must have vetoed the trade to Edmonton for Neal
