I'm sure Colbys wife is thrilled about the trending twitter topic that McDavid had a bad game because of the celebration of life

He was asked about it and gave his opinion. I do not like Mcdavid as much as the next guy, he dives, he whines, he gets away with a lot, the refs/league treat him differently and the media love annoys the hell out of me, but this is different. I wouldn't jump all over him because he provided an opinion on what was probably a difficult day, whether you agree with him or not. Covid also has made grieving the loss of a loved one very difficult. Seems rather petty IMO.

Don't agree, I think what he said was indefensible and incredibly selfish.

Its a pandemic and the NHL is struggling to get games in as it is...petty for him to make and excuse and call the league out when they are doing everything they can to make sure guys like him get their millions. This game was scheduled tonight because 25 players had covid.
Not saying he is the worst guy ever he is young but I bet a more seasoned captain handles it differently.
And the sky is blue

His opinion was that the Oilers should get special treatment from the NHL. I recall the Canucks having a memorial for Luc Bourdon 8 months after he tragically died and they played that night. Has the NHL ever rescheduled games because they coincide with things like that, or is that just an Oilers thing?
I agree it's a valid reason to feel ####ty that day, but to call out the NHL was not appropriate. Especially for a guy that already gets special treatment.

However bad this season is for us flames fans and the fact that the grease are headed for the playoffs and we are not, I am enjoying an ass-kicking of our provincial rival along with a few beers on a Saturday night. Oh, and Mike smith giving up a spin o Rama backhand through the five hole from one of our depth guys. Happiness doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that.

My Flames hat blew off in the wind, and was subsequently ran over by a sedan. A sacrifice I’m happy to have made.

He took a tripping penalty on Tkachuk in the 2nd.

I assume his gripe with the NHL was because this was an off day for the Oilers and I assume the celebration of life was partly planned around their schedule, then the league rescheduled a game that was to be played in a month on the day they were laying a teammate to rest. He probably believes the league should have considered that when they made this last minute change. I don't think that is unreasonable. The league has a difficult job but some things are bigger than the game. I'm not going to jump down his throat for having that opinion.

He died in April of 2020
Some things are bigger than the game...so take the L without trying to put it on the league
Covid is a pretty big deal right now too, the league has already extended the schedule they don't have extra days

I'm aware of when he died. Again point over head. It is so tempting to put somebody who probably only hears the words that come out of their mouth in a conversation on ignore but I can't because I'm honestly curious what you are going to say next.

Okay so they weren't laying him to rest....it was a memorial and I'm certain it was very emotional and I am not suggesting it wasn't or shouldn't be.
I don't think McDavid handled the post game well, lots of people agree. He made it about himself and the league.
You lost a game, it has happened many times in your career. I think a more mature captain would say. "no excuse, didn't go our way tonight" and be done with it. League is doing everything they can with the schedule, its a miracle its even going to happen.
We are going to have to agree to disagree, no need for a condescending rant tonight

To be fair, if i was reminded how precious and how short life is, and then I realized I was spending it, playing for the oilers and living in Edmonton, I’d be pretty ####ing depressed to.

At one point he was playing top line with Neal. Imagine being McLotto, arguably the best player in the league, and getting stuck with those 2 for wingers.

Thats Sutter hockey to a tee if I remember right.
I don't car about my foreward unless they make a distinct impression one me . Who's playing defense and stopping chances and moving the puck up ice out of our zone.
It's no surprise Monahan is standing out for darryl over Johnny. Despite his lack of scoring this year Monahan has been consistently better defending.

This is what bugs me about " they are leading in this nam category for anyone this year. No team has to play outside their division. So of course players are going to get career years. They only have to play the same teams over and over. Theirs no real challenge for them to be creative or endure . If these players had to play all 31 teams would they be where they are?

I didn't watch but it is nice seeing the final score.
A big middle finger to all the Oiler fans on social media that have suddenly become the world's cockiest fanbase after a third of a season of not being a complete and utter laughing stock. Like honestly where do they get this confidence from?
Both teams are ending up with the exact same number of team trophies at the end of the season.
To that "Franchise" up North:

The team that wins the Cup this year only has to play a maximum of 9 or 10 teams to get there. I get it's the best we can do given the circumstances, but it is still a garbage season for the whole league.
