I don't think too many playoff teams are looking at Gusev to fill a void on the top lines. If they had a void that big, they wouldn't be playoff teams. Edmonton is probably the closest exception to that.

But if his goal is to just ride coattails and get a Cup before he is out of the league, I could see him going to a place like Tampa or Florida as depth insurance. Russians and Florida just seem to go hand-in-hand.

He is not a gritty north-south player though. Gusev playing for Sutter would be a repeat of his time with the Devils this season under Ruff.

He'd probably look great on the Wild with Kaprizov, Zuccarello, Fiala and co.

Oilers could use a skilled LW that’s league min.

I assume that Gusev's agent already has a team in the waiting otherwise why move.

Devil's have probably tried to trade and may have had some bites but too big of a cap hit for anyone and they are not about to eat any more salary after the Zajac and Palmieri deal as teams cannot retain more then 3 contracts per season. Leaves a door open to move someone like Subban.

Speculation is that he is going to sign league minimum with the Lightning

Plus the Oilers can get stuffed (E=NG)

Kypreos speculates the Flyers are shopping Nolan Patrick.

Patrick is a reclamation project at this point. With our desperation at centre, I could see the Flames biting. Flyers are probably looking for a young dman though.

I'd take a chance on a Bennett for Patrick swap. I might add a late round pick or something but, honestly, Patrick has been just as big a disappointment as Bennett so far, so I wouldn't add much.

EDIT: To respond to CliffFletcher's speculation, I would probably support something around Kylington+ for Patrick too. It would break my heart (as a Kylington fanboy), but if the Flames are determined not to play and develop him, may as well trade him for something.

If Nolan Patrick is available and Vegas does not try and go after Nolan that would be my indication as a GM to stay away from him.

Patrick played under Kelly Mccrimmon and I think that Kelly has a pretty good eye. He would also have the inside scoop on Patrick.

Rumour I heard is Oilers are working on Hall for a 1st, Jones and another piece. Want Hall to resign for $6m and Nuge to resign for $6 m. They believe both are close on both players.

They have zero cap space. I don’t see how they can make room at all for an 8 mill cap hit

I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation of how this works cap wise...this year or in the future

They trade Neal and Koskinen for a 1st, then sign Rask to a league minimum deal.

McDavid will be on waivers tomorrow for purpose of contract termination. He'll then re-sign for league minimum + $1000 bonus for every "Let's Go".

Why would they want Bear? Or Laggeson?
