This seems telling.

Telling that Brad has a passive aggressive side?
Or that he’s just looking at moving out draft picks?

The whole tone of the interview was weird.
Treliving did not sound like he wanted to be on the phone.

Or the Flames don't have allot of assets that other teams are really interested in especially with the expiring contracts.

That some of the players that he would move don't have a market.

Agreed, I'm sure he is aware that Pat has to ask those questions.

I think whoever is hoping for a complete rebuild will be disappointed unless Markstrom continues to #### the bed next year and it is unintentional.

We're already a lottery team with Markstrom. It's not that unfathomable that without changes (or even with), the team does just as bad or worse next season.
Rebuilding might not even be a choice at this time. If they try to resist it, it will probably just mean a rushed, half-assed, rebuild. We don't need that, we need the the need the Jennifer Lopez rebuild.

It's been like the 4th or 5th interview he's done leading up to the deadline. The Bob McCown and John Shannon interview, 1-on-1 TSN interview with Salim, the Flames official podcast with Dittrick, and this Fan 960 one.
He's probably over it. He sounded bored.

If Markstrom plays like he did before his injury then that will be enough to keep them out of the bottom, if continues to play like he is now then I agree they will be bad enough to be in the bottom. I still don't see the Flames trading away players for pure futures this offseason. It is totally going to be a hope to get in and make some noise.
I bet they make some player for player hockey trades and hope for a rebound from Markstrom and become a bubble team.

Tree never reveals his cards nor is he ever forthwith. It's always the same thing. "If something happens, it happens, I it doesn't it doesn't. "
And this year he has been especially protective of saying anything about specific players.
The only thing different this year is ...well... there's nothing to hide behind. There's no racist bill peters to answer away the team struggles. Covid has evened out he excuse playing field for everyone, and the spotlight is especially hot on him and the team this year, for good reason, so many things have failed.
The top line has dried up, the #1 franchise goalie has struggled. The coaching change hasn't panned out so far (not that it would have or should have given the players are on another planet this year). As far as disaster seasons go for an NHL franchise and the guy running it, this is pretty bad.

We should be cycling in, or developing up and coming players and actively improving the team. The pause (stagnation) and poor performance from certain players on the team has left him in an unfortunate limbo.
I guess it all depends on what Treliving sees as the process. Some teams see the process as trading players in and out. It is a risk but they need to identify a need and go out and trade for it!!
We seem to have trouble trading good pieces for the right pieces we need. If they were not going to do it this way they should have dived further into the draft and grabbed a couple more elite pieces.
I think the Flames problem is they have stopped growing and the pieces they add are too often stumbling blocks,

So if he says “there will be trades”, then infers that nobody wants his players, he is going to trade ... draft picks?
I was kidding.
Because trading draft picks is something he did in a particular noteworthy trade
Tough crowd, I tell you

So, who signed all those players that no other team wants anyways?
I can see why he's not too excited to talk about that.

I think Johnny and, or Monahan could have been traded for players that fit the top line. Now that both have somewhat declined, the opportunity to bring in key players is somewhat diminished. I liked that we got something for Doug and Ferland, but too often we seem to hang onto players past due date "Iggy"
I have been a big Sam Bennett fan, but there is a time we probably could have garnered a good asset by trading him. I think the Flames need to trade quality to get back what we need to improve the team.

The team has to change its philosophy. If the team is doing consistently bad but if you have players with value, you need to cash in on that value. Now the team is bad and the players have next to no value.
Stop falling in love with players and do what is best for the team.
