The Devils have staked out their lottery claim. We better have an answer...

I hope we could get a first for Bennett + Ryan packaged. Pipe dream, maybe.
Great deal for the Isles. I am rooting for them.

This is a real nice move for the Islanders. Two players who can actually move the needle for them and they're already a very good team. Gave up only a low 1st, 3rd or 4th and two non factors.

Love seeing other teams not named Edmonton making these kind of moves. Go Islanders!

That's a cheap cost for the Isles.
Maybe we shouldn't do anything until the off season.

We have had opportunities, we may be a bit too late now.
It's got to the point were they are publicly trying to convince us we "still" have good players...

I wonder if them being in the same city helps from a quarantine standpoint?

Good trade for both. Nyi got much deeper up front for the PO run.

For pending UFA's like these two are? I would sure hope we do something similar instead of waiting till the offseason and getting nothing.

Is Anders Lee out for good or will they have him for the playoffs?
Edit - Looks like he’s out for playoffs as well with knee surgery.

I believe in the Jays.

If this is the market then I'd rather the Flames wait until the offseason before moving any big pieces if that's the way they want to go. Woof.

I'm a big fan of Palmieri, so this is great news for the Isles who already lost Anders Lee for the year. They needed someone up front to replace his goal scoring and physical presence.

I'd imagine in a normal year Palmieri 50% retained would be worth at least a 1st despite his mediocrity this year?
Zajac 50% at least a 2nd?

Lamoriello does seem like he is a GM who goes and gets what he needs, not an in on everything kind of guy.

In 2004 the Flames traded down from 19 to 24 to draft sure thing Kris Chucko. Chucko was on Zajac's line for the Salmon Arms Silverbacks.
Zajac got picked 20Th and Chucko #24.
Oveckin also drafted in 2004 is the only guy with more NHL games than Zajac (1024) from that draft. Chucko had 2 NHL games.
A wrong path chosen.

The Devils have already won 3 lotteries in the past decade, and this trade leaves them with practically no veterans.
Honestly they're pretty disgraceful. They're tanking hard for a fourth lottery win.

Nassau and Prudential Centre are less than an hour drive apart (without traffic). They certainly won't be taking commercial flights to their new team.
If they happen to live east of Prudential, then it's even less.
I would guess that those 2 will share a nice airbnb near the arena, but commute home when possible (not sure on their family situations).
