Practically anything that is a "jihad" for anything other than something selfless or charitable.
I mean, I like the people here, but I don't feel good about using internet mobs to sway the outcome of things. I don't know the other people involved so I prefer to stay out of it.

On the flip side of the coin I will read threads that Sliver posts in. I enjoy your funny and sometimes witty responses.

Which is the same for pretty much anything you don't play regularly, though right? I mean golf is really fun if you play it regularly and get good at it and it sucks if you don't.
I hate football because I don't play it well and don't put any effort into playing it better. But I understand why others like it.

I guess the difference is golf is a weird sport in that it's socially acceptable to invite a bunch of people that don't play it regularly as a work or social event, which leads to a lot of negative opinions on golf that don't really need to be there relative to any other sport that most people don't play.

during corporate or teams golf day the expectation is that one somewhat sucks, but not so much that you take 15+ shots to sink it. But if you're shooting par then you clearly have a golfing issue and clearly won't be fun when the jello shots start.

I personally love both styles of golf. Serious and looking to play as best you can is great and getting drunk and sloppy and forgetting how to shoot is also a blast.

The entirely of the Fire on Ice forum (which I know is weird because that's the majority of this server!). At some point about five years ago I got really frustrated with the level of vitriol on there and just stopped using it. I know there's a lot of great posters on there (because they're also on this section of the forum) and the discussion level may be great again, but I've never felt the need to go back.

I'm not a fan of golf but I get why people who are would want to talk about it. But the Tiger Woods thread? So he crashed a car. What could be worth talking about for pages and pages?

Well, since you didn't go in there you don't know what that became, lol. It was a Lance Armstrong thread for like 80% of it.

My favourite part is someone complaining about getting ripped to shreds.
For me any Sliver thread is an auto read. The other is a any thread with a wierd title that keeps getting bumped. I missed Wanamaker and swore never again.

I mean...that's 3/4 of the reason I hit some of the older threads or the ones that just keep going. "That thread got bumped again? WTF could they still be talking about. I better check."
The Alex Trebek death thread did that to me the other day. That thread really needs to be renamed or the current discussion given it's own thread. A death thread being constantly bumped 'cause folks wanna share their opinion on the current schmoe with the job doesn't seem right.

ALL ABOARD!

As sad as this is for a Flames fan and the reason I came to this board, I actually avoid the Fire on Ice sub-forum all together.
The team is pretty terrible right now and even when we're winning there are armchair GMs in there who think they know more than actual GMs/players/hockey professionals because they watch some Sportsnet or read Calgary Sun articles. They don't know anything about the actual team dynamics, the business of pro-sports and have never played hockey at a significant level but feel their opinion is just as valid as the pros. The knee-jerk, reactionary, sky-is-falling posts when we lose is frustrating as well. Though blowing up the team is probably a worthwhile conversation right now.
