Maybe if it’s conditional on him winning the Conn Smythe

Teams aren’t giving up first round picks for replacement level players.

No way he gets that much. On a good team, he is a 3rd or 4th liner.
I wonder if it might be worth keeping him just to expose him as bait in the expansion draft and avoid having them pick another player. Seattle might see him as a risk worth taking. They have to meet a certain percentage of the cap from the expansion draft, so his QO might not be an issue for them

His playoff performance is exaggerated by how horrible the rest of the team had been. On good teams Sams performance is just what is expected

Pretty sure we'd have to qualify him first, which wouldn't be great if SEA didn't take him.
If we don't manage to dump Bennett by the TDL, I've always thought he'd be the one 'asset' worth trading for 'expansion draft considerations'.

The expansion draft is on July 21st and free agency starts on July 28th, although I think the dates have moved around, so maybe that isn't current any more.
I think the intent was to have the expansion draft first so teams could have a bigger picture of what their roster looked like before qualifying guys. It would also give Seattle a chance to negotiate long term extensions for a different dollar amount if they selected the player.

No his playoff performance has been better than that. 11 goals in 30 games, 5 in 10 last year. For a guy who plays down the lineup that’s excellent production on the biggest stage. Far better than expected. When third line guys produce like that in the playoffs, you should be winning.
Let’s not diminish at least what the guy has done when the rest of the team has disappeared.
He is far more valuable to a team looking to make a deep run than Ryan or Rittich. Not first round pick valuable though.

But what’s the point here? Which player is doing better or worse than expected in the playoffs?

Why is it that Sam Bennett always seems to excel (by such low standards its almost unimaginable) when the rest of the team is complete dog ####? But when the team is playing even marginally well, Sam Bennett is complete dog ####?
The sooner they get rid of this future KHL player the better.

I don't see any team acquiring him qualifying him in the summer. He's not worth his cap hit or his QO at this point. So basically they would pay for a rental. I think a second is the most you'll get for him.

I chuckle.
Your opinion on the player is well understood
I don’t know who said he is excelling because it wasn’t me.

I know I looked this up before and I thought the QO deadline was the entry-draft, not UFA day.
I may have also been thinking the Sam would need to be qualified to count as 'exposed'. Of course we can sign others to meet those requirements.
Regardless, I think it's pretty unlikely that SEA would use their pick for Sam's negotiating rights, but who knows. Maybe they would be fine just qualifying him if necessary.

Now a Career -69 (nice)!
Say what you will about +/- but when Sam is on the ice we get scored on a lot.

The eye test tells you that when Sam Bennett is on the ice, the Flames get scored on a lot.

Listening to Sutter today and knowing full well how the management team are 100 percent behind Sam Bennett, I dont think he's going anywhere any time soon.
Still a week away but I really think they have a plan for him in Calgary as a Flame.
