Not exactly going out on a limb. This is going to be a really quiet deadline day all around.
No one wants to take on salary right now, and no one usually likes to take on players with term at the deadline. Our UFAs aren't going to move the needle much for a team that is good enough to be a playoff team.
Might see Rittich or Ryan moved for chump change for teams that lose out on bigger fish. I hope Bennet is gone, but no one is going to pay a lot for him. They know he wants out and that the Flames probably won't qualify him.
Pittsburgh might have some old Beau Bennett jerseys still kicking around, so that might be a natural fit (they don't have to waste money getting Bennett jerseys because he isn't worth it). They can collect all the disappointing Bennetts.

Although I agree those are moves that are doable and likely, in terms of a culture change I don't see the point of getting rid of Ryan who's actually someone I never worry about on the ice and gets the job done. If we're retooling not in full rebuild mode, then why this guy who's actually got some heart and soul?

Not surprised, this about the worst trade deadline to make a major move. Flat cap and the expansion draft really jams things up as well, if a team has to pay to protect or expose someone because of a deadline pick up it is a hard sell. Sure sucks that Covid happened when the Flames needed a shakeup of the core forwards.

The trade deadline seems destined to be quiet, so I think it makes sense that it will be quiet for the Flames. I still think they move 2 of Rittich, Ryan and Bennett, but that isn't the "noise" they are talking about. The big moves will happen in the summer.

We should be safe on that even. Palmeri has an 8 team NTC, guaranteed to have Calgary on it. Being a UFA, I can’t see why he would waive to come for the last part of the regular season.

Bennett will be dealt, but the rest should never play in the league again. Utterly useless, and how the Flames scouting/management missed on so many of these guys, is maddening.
