Expecting exact same game as yesterday's game. No line ups yet?

Haven't seen full lineups, is there is no morning skate (?) since they played last night.

But Markstrom starts, Valimaki and Leivo out.

Last chance to watch this version of the team?
This is the last game for our 2021 6th round pick as a Flame.

Its lethargic game day threads like these that make me glad the franchise has ponied up over the years to keep a competitive team on the ice and never truly bottomed out for a rebuild since the Young Gun era.

I just realized that I should tune in for the game tonight. I realize that it's possible nothing happens this trade deadline, but who knows... It could, potentially, be the last time we see one or some of these guys wearing a flames jersey.

You’re going to miss Derek Ryan that much?

Looks like it won't be the last game before the deadline after all. Flames vs. Oilers will now be the late HNIC game this Saturday...

If Campbell isn't ready to go, I would not be surprised if the Leafs give the 4th stringer, Vehvelainin, the start.

Nothing like losing to the Oilers on HNIC.

I've had enough negativity. The way I see it, there will be a positive to take away from every remaining game.

They win? Yay, they won!

They lose? Yay, better draft pick!

While we listen to Singh call the game and Cassie provide colour. (Read: talking about Sportsnet's poster boy McDoodle all night.)

Just effing wonderful. Something to really look forward to.

Checking in for tonight's game - don't wanna get fined either.

(Actually, just seeing the bag reminded me of the Laffs fans with bags - both in Calgary and Toronto. For years. Hope that's not us.)

I could care less where we draft. We need to find some rhythm under Sutter. Its clear huge changes are coming. And with Sutter coming on board you can be rest assured its a retool not a rebuild we have coming. Id rather we catch some momentum to take into next season and hit the ground running. Not be basement dwellers in a weak draft year.

It's a real predicament for the players tonight. As an individual you want to play good enough so that some team out there rescues you from this sinking ship with a trade, but not good enough that the captain decides to keep you on board the whole way down.

Colour me surprised that Sutter hasn't wringed any resilience out of these guys.

I definitely thought he would be the guy to do it. I still think he will be, but it will take longer and certainly well beyond this year.

There are deep character and confidence issues in that room.

I don't know how you solve that definitively outside of changing a lot of the personnel and starting anew.

I do expect a new mindset and more resolve in a full season next year, but if they keep most of this group intact the same problem will eventually creep in again.

Hopefully the GM has finally decided that time is up and is preparing to set the necessary moves in motion.

The fanbase needs an outlook of hope and potential now more than ever.
