I would limit it to a group with minutes that suggest they are regulars ... 250 and above gives you 12 forwards per team, and weeds out a guy that a point in one game and looks solid in terms of rates but doesn't play.
That puts 2.2 at about 60th ... which with 31 teams would mean on average either the worst second best player in the league, or the best third best player.
That's a good hockey player ...

Where are the Oilers at? Average team riding the career year of a 39 year old goalie. Under .500 against playoff teams.

Just catching up. Yeah, Brad, the depth not working out is the problem.

Brad is selling used cars, you want him to advertise how often they break down or don't start?
Slightly used Monahan, driven to church by an old lady every Sunday.

There must be something that we are not seeing. Even when he was place on waivers, no other team picked him up and some of the analytics guys were shocked about that.

In reality though, there has not been a lot of waiver action overall on the NHL, let alone the North division. I think it’s been an odd year for player movement in general.
I was just happy to see Oliver at least play the right side this year, as that was what he played most of his life. So, I was always puzzled as to why he was never tried on that side during his entire duration with the organization.

Tre should have had to respond to the best take in yesterday's PGT which was at least Johnny skated hard.
JG didn't do anything but he did break a sweat it seemed.

Well color me surprised. The plan revolving around the additions of Simon, Nordstrom, Leivo, etc didn't work out? It seems like everyone saw that coming except Brad and his pro scouts.

That's not entirely true. The Leivo signing in particular was one that generally received wide praise as a good addition.
Nordstrom/Simon I always viewed as 12/13 type forwards and rather inconsequential.
The problem is the top forwards falling off the map totally.

I don't think the plan "revolved around" those players, nor did most people think those low salary signings were bad at all. Look at the comments on this board - they were majority OK with them, and only Leivo was maybe going to crack the top 9 in any projections.
His plan more revolved around Dube and Mangiapane improving (which at least Mangiapane has done, and Dube has certainly had some good games), and Monahan and Gaudreau being more like 2018-19 than 2019-20. The latter is the assessment issue here, more than anything else. The problem is - assuming you saw them more as the 2020 guys, what do you do about it?

And I'd add that I think the addition of more depth players had them thinking there would be more options to plug a third player in with two good forwards.
But pretty much all of them have disappointed and not found a fit.
Honestly this is such a strange season it's hard to judge individual players as everything has gone wrong.

I would not be surprised if we see the Flames make no deals at the deadline. The only player that I think is likely to be traded is Rittich. He is a decent goalie for a team with injuries or needing insurance.
As far as blockbusters go, I doubt we see much of anything and most teams just hold off until after the season. I wouldn't be surprised to see more trades being made by non-playoff teams and eliminated teams before the Cup is even awarded though.

I'd like to see Rittich (3rd rounder), Ryan (3rd and a 5th) and Leivo (7th rounder) all traded this TDL. Retain salary if you have to (especially with Rittich and Ryan)
I'd like to keep Bennett just so we can lose him to Seattle.
Clean house (Mony and Johnny for sure, hopefully Backlund as well) this summer.

But this team didn’t just need depth up front. This is not only about 13 and 23 falling off the map. It has been apparent for quite some time that they weren’t enough on their own if the goal is to contend. That’s not some new thing.

I think that’s close although I don’t believe there’s a trade market for Leivo.
Bennett might be a little more attractive for a playoff team (2nd rounder).

Some posters are going way too far out of their way to make excuses for the GM. The team's record is self explanatory. Blame the players all you want but this is the team that Brad built.

But isn't that crux of the 121 page argument?
Some are going out of their way to make excuses which is completely balanced out by some that want to blame every thing on the GM.
I don't see the job as a 100% position. It's like commodity trading. You have to be right more often than wrong, and manage your losses well so you end up up overall.
His gamble was on Monahan and Gaudreau and it failed. If you see that as a firing offence you are certainly going to want him gone. But I didn't see a lot of posters suggesting Monahan and Gaudreau were going to fall off the face of the earth 18 months ago ... I know I certainly didn't see it coming. And with that I wouldn't fire him for it.

To me it’s less about “firing” the guy than it is whether he is the best person for the job. So excuses don’t really get you to where you should actually have confidence in him.
