Probably happens regardless. The question is will the team be ready to contend after that, or will they just go back to being middling again? The decisions made in the next 12-24 months will go a long way in determining that.

Actually flipped off the game after the third goal. I don't know if I can condemn the effort tonight with what I watched. Its just a construction that doesn't work.

I have to admit I watched the Dave and Mark press conference, and you could just see in the body language especially with Gio that they were completely defeated.

I expect the rest of the season is going to be a lot of losses and hard to watch if anyone bothers to watch. Though I have a tough time feeling sorry for millionaires, nobody plays this game to lose.

I just don't know where the team goes from here. I mean this is a suck year for the trade deadline and rebuilding style trades where teams know that the cap is going to drop through the floor next year.

I don't even know if the draft class is all that exciting this year.

Hey Hutch how did you feel about your game? It felt great to be back in the AHL. I did not say that. No, no the flames are a great team with lots of skill, that is what I was trying to say.

Watch a rebuild? Maybe twenty years ago.

But have you seen how much good content is being produced by HBO, Netflix, Amazon Prime, WB,. Disney+ etc.

I don't plan on watching losing hockey because I don't need to.

Its weird, there's no offensive sync on this team. For the most part you see one flame going 1 on 2 or 1 on 3 and just going to the corner and being cut off. Even when they gain the zone, there seems to be no urgency by the forwards to find open zone spots in the middle, but it doesn't matter because we're pretty awful at o zone passing.

Honestly the top players on this team have vanished. When I watch Mony I see him working, but its almost like he second guesses everything that he does.

Its not an entertaining team to watch. When I talk to my players, and I've coached some bad teams I've always said, always lose going at 100 miles another and if you make a mistake at high speed or high effort, its just a mistake. If you make a mistake because you're hesitant or not working, that's different.

The Flames are such a hesitant team right now in everything they do.

Honestly, I don’t think it helps overall. Johnny and monahan’s inability to win battles consistently may actually hinder the other lines. So, instead of having 2 lines that can cycle the puck, now you have one. That would be my concern. I’d rather keep them together and limit their time to pp mostly.

Even this lousy team is better than any algorithm written show that Disney+ or Netflix spits out.

I didn't know that Lindholm was still a Flame. Haven't seen him in a while.

Boom, I agree with you. 10 15 years ago, you could suffer a rebuilding season if you were a hockey fan because there really wasn't that much out there in terms of alternate education. Now with streaming services and thousands errr 10's of thousands of hours of entertainment, streaming, vintage games on youtube. The Flames and the NHL will tend to bleed fans not to other sports, but to other, cheaper entertainment. I almost dread what happens to the Flames if they bottom out this season and go back to live crowds next years, where entertainment dollars in a bad economy are going to be at a premium. Could we see half empty arenas? Absolutely.

If I was a Flames owner, I would be looking for an exit.

Possibly yes, but at this point, what do you have to lose. To not try it even once is a little baffling. Especially when Johnny and Monny get owned 5 on 5.

If Monahan is in fact injured then Ritchie’s inclusion on the top line is even more baffling

Is that putting Johnny in a position to succeed with an injured center losing draws and a winger with no offensive skills?

Beniers was really good for the Americans in the WJC. He played 2C as a draft eligible player and has had a really good season in the NCAA.

I'm a little bit leery of Owen Power, just because his 6'6" frame and good skating should have him running away with first overall if he was truly elite.

Kent Johnson is a player I am starting to get excited about. He gets Matt Barzal comparisons. Scored 101 points in 52 games in the BCHL as a 17 year old and actually had a better point per game pace than Beniers at the University of Michigan this season. He's got a ton of skill and creativity. 6'1" and still needs to fill out (only 168 lbs).

I'm trying to get excited about adding some talent and there is definitely some available where the Flames are looking to pick (plus a bunch of other high end D).

Lindholm back to their wing so he can win draws, retrieve pucks, and finish chances

Tkachuk/Backlund/Mangiapane will work as a second line it literally always does

Then try to squeeze as much as possible out of the bottom 6

Tkachuk should be embarrassed about a lot of this season, but that turnover at the line is just unacceptable for the highest paid player on the team.

Team sucks, keep losing losers. As the losses pile up we inch closer to a top 5 pick and the firing of a highly overrated gm.

I see two players that if not for history and their contracts would be hard pressed to make an average NHL teams top 6.

I should mention that I don't enjoy saying that. It sucks. But they are both terrible this season.
