It’s hard to believe how disorganized and out of sync they still look.

It’s even harder to believe many of this core were part of the “find a way Flames” who never gave up and came up clutch so often.

That said, regulation losses are the best thing for this team right now. Sell at the deadline snd stockpile some picks.

Shelter then and let them put up points, should have tried to make them more complete players when they were 20. Might be too late to turn that ship around now.
Ritchie isn’t a guy that shores them up defensively either, like a Lindholm. You’d almost like to see Nordstrom wrong handed or Ryan. They forecheck well, and at least can execute a zone exit. Ritchie turns it over a lot at his own blue line - despite being right handed, he’s taking the puck skating backwards a lot.

Honestly, thought the flames played well, overall. The difference tonight, as has been most nights this year, is that the oppositions top players put the game away when they needed to, while the flames top players were largely invisible.

You can't win games when your best players in the game are the 3rd and 4th line players. In the final minute of the game, it was Bennett, mangiapanne and Backlund (with Monahan coming on in the last 30 seconds). I actually agree with Sutters deployment here, but if those 3 players are the players you're relying on, none of which I'd consider to be top line players, there's a serious problem.

Or what they could do is just get rid of Treliving and all the other assistant GMs besides Conroy(leaving him as the one asst GM) and not hire back those same roles. So as to trim the salaries in that regard.

I would rubber stamp that, no questions asked!

Sutter will get them on track just in time to #### up any chance they might have at a very high pick.

Not that it matters though I guess, considering the fact that the highest ever pick the Flames have had ended up being Sam fricken Bennett.

Be prepared for six to eight years without a playoff appearance.

You know what, I am 17 years older than I was in 2004.

It’s a different kind of caring, sure doesn’t bother me, certainly not the way it would have years ago.

But that’s also considering entering a season more with hope than expectations

This has nothing to do with their deployment. They are getting caved in because they

a.) can't get the puck out out of their zone on most nights
b.) can't cycle the puck down low on most nights
c.) teams have figured out how to defend them off the rush

This isn't how they're being used. They're not winning battles on most nights. When the opposition consistently tries to match their best offensive players against those two players, theres something to that.

I'm fine with that we just end up getting stomped in the first round anyways

I'm not sure why but the players always looks weaker than other team players. When you battling in the corner, when try to win 1 on 1 battle, when they skate especially in 3rd period. Their preparation and condition is missing something.
