Good comparisons.

Hall of Famers, all. Among the best 50 players of all time.

Not generational players.

Jagr is debatable (but I would vote no)

No, but it completely devastates the idea of only one "generational player" per generation.

I am not that attached to the label for Thornton. It struck me as an interesting question.

Totally agreed, and I think he and Thornton are in that tier of awesome below generational

Chances are most of us don’t see another player score 700+ goals in our lifetime.

To suggest Ovi isn’t generational is comical.

Crosby being in the league at the same time had no bearing on Ovi’s status.

Gotta believe that’s a team that can really make good use of his skating and passing ability.
My youngest son is dating someone who lives downtown by the Rice campus and he’s discovering a lot of cool places!

TJ has been playing his best defense by far, and that’s his exact role in Toronto. They want him to allow Reilly to move and jump the rush and TJ to be the clutch d-man and it’s working well. That being said, so very grateful for the time he spent in Calgary and I know we all still cheer for the Flames. I mean, 10 years was a long time and we all grew to love the team. Miss seeing him wearing #7, but the Flames foundation built him to be such a strong, confident player.

That Marner diagonal cut across the middle - Johnny used to do that and I wish he’d bring it back.

It’s those strengths that helped Gio get his Norris, and cool to see in Toronto

Generational means you have the talent level that is seen about once a generation. It doesn't mean there can't be another one at the same time.

Gretzky and Lemieux overlapped.

Howe overlapped Richard, then Orr.

The longer this tie goes, can't help but think one of the Leafs top guys are going to break through like McLottery the other night, and that'll be all she wrote.

Ovechkin is a generational player by any measure unless it’s smoke pedantic interpretation of a generation.

Thornton vs Iginla is interesting. Iggy gets my totally free from bias vote.

Are you not confident that a Flames top guy will “break through”?

Is he not generational?

I would say he is, because he won 4 consecutive Art Ross trophies and is 2nd all time in points.
