Yesterday, they mentioned an unnamed member of the coaching staff as well; so the number of people affected within the entire Canucks organization might extend beyond this list that only contains players.

Wow. Is this the most number of cases in pro sports for a single team?

According to this article, the NJ Devils had 19 players on the COVID-19 protocol list in mid-February. The number does not include coaches and other staff.

I'm not sure if NJ's number is the highest in pro-sports though.

Seems like this is a real time (life) case of the more contagious strains of COVID spreading very quickly.
The entire lower mainland is a huge concern right now. Friends of mine who live there are freaking out today.
Particularly when you see the vaccination rates in large US cities.

Hope the situation resolves itself with no issues. But I also won't cry if they're huffing and puffing a bit more trying to get around the rink when they get back. V=NG

Miami Marlins had 20 cases, but possibly more.

That was really stupid because it was due to players not following COVID protocols.

High risk people were supposed to be 65/over and indigenous people, those people should be done now, couple that with the new variants being dangerous to any age groups I think all age groups should be able to get a shot when available. The US opened up to all because the 20-40 group are the super spreaders.

Jeezuz....not good.
Really hope they get it all under control.
Its likely not just players and coaches either but all the people they live with.
Godspeed to anyone getting this thing.

Yeah...not even close.
I know more than a few that have received 1st shots....but most of those have been told the wait for the second one will be up to 4 months.

Figured it'd be that Brazil variant. That thing is just really aggressive it seems, way more so in young peeps than the original.

I get that but the single shot has shown to be very effective for 3-4 months, in those months we could get as many vaccinated as possible to slow the spread.
This nightmare will not go away if we don't get the people who spread it done as fast as possible.

Wow -- I thought it was only a couple of players at first, not 2/3 of the team + coaches.
Wishing them all a quick recovery.

Yikes that's crazy. Makes you think of a real infection rate amongst un-tested adults. What did they all share a milkshake or something? Hope everyone makes a full recovery.

The Brazil variant was brought into BC by travel into the province they said.
Can you imagine being the person responsible? Did he or she follow the rules or break quarantine and pass it on?
