This is true...I will only be watching until the Oilers lose most likely
maybe here and there otherwise

The added bonus is you only watch the games where the Oilers can be eliminated.

I continue to believe that the Oilers will get trounced in the first round. McDavid will never leave the ice, and will exhaust himself. Mike Smith will wander all over behind his net, flop around on his stomach and allow a few easy goals prompting death-glares at his defensemen. Koskinen will wave his glove-hand aimlessly at pucks as they blow past him into the net.

My money is on a Jets/Leafs division final.
Like last year, some team will shutdown Saddlesore and McLovn and the Oilers will crater.

No tired teams while rested, no Sens,
This reminds me of people fearing the Canucks "run" last season...relax
The Oilers aren't on the same planet as the real top teams

Unfortunately the only tired Oilers the other teams get are McD, Drai, Nursery, and Smitty. The rest haven’t even played any minutes.

Playoffs? Oilers? In the same sentence? Why is my dinner on the pavement in front of me?

Luckily they're only in a playoff spot chicken-hawk style, picking on the lowly Sens and Flames. So even if they don't trip over their own feet again and make the playoffs* for the 2nd time since fire was discovered, and will probably face a team with their star 1st line center and starting goalie injured, they probably won't do too well. I mean, they lost pretty easily to a very uninterested Hawks team who were in like 30th place.

Edmonton is hot garbage against good teams. They just are, their blueline looked slow against the Leafs, and their second line terrible. Again it comes down to McDavid and Draisaitl, You also have Smith literally having a career resurgence .922 svpct as a 39 year old, its his best year since 2011. But they're riding him like he's 25 year old.
This team just feels like a team that's feasted on bad teams, but will fade down the stretch, and if they make the playoffs completely fall apart when depth becomes important. As Bone Saw said to Spiderman in the cage "You're going nowhere" and any decent team in the playoffs will add on "Hey Feakshows, we've got you for 4 games of playtime"

I think a few edmontonians have been sniffing the crude oil up there. Just saw one genius fan post on sportsnet after the win tonight that Holland was smart to avoid the goalie bidding war and purposely signed Mike ‘vezina’ smith. Yes, this genius referred to him as ‘Vezina’ smith.
‘Smith has been unsustainably good, but to suggest this was on purpose is such oiler logic.

Looking at the Sabres and they're losing streak, it really emphasizes how different things should have been for the Oilers if the bingo balls bounced differently.

True. But it's not 2015 anymore, the Oilers aren't just starting the McDavid era. It's already Year 6, they've wasted so much time already. Gretzky only played 9 NHL years in Edmonton.
I truly believe they're already on the "back 9" in their time with McDavid, at most they have 4-5 years left. The way they struggle to put good pieces around him, I'll laugh so hard if they blow this window without even a trip to the Final. Then watch him win a Cup out east in his first couple years there.

This may have been asked and answered on previous posts here or on a another forum, but why is James Neal riding in the Taxi? Is he slightly injured or something.
He's only played 17 games or so.... and I know he hasn't been great... but remember last year when he and McDavid were going all around on the video tour, he was one of the "in" four.... and is he OUT now?
I'm so glad he was better last year, just good enough to get us a third round pick, and if he's "OUT" and sucking now, that's just icing.

Oilers ended up dodging a bullet by missing out on the Jacob Markstrom sweepstakes. They pivoted at that point and ended up with Tyson Barrie, that would not have happened if they had landed Markstrom. The problem for them this year with a flat salary cap is RNH and Barrie are UFA's, will be tough to sign them both.
