That’s really too bad about Ekblad. It’s fun to see the 4 sunbelt teams atop the Central right now and if there’s a team that really deserves to go on a run it’s Florida.

Obviously him just playing games is a marked improvement, but yikes that's awful for a former 2nd overall.

People say he has potential to be the next Sam Bennett!
Worse than him has been Carter Hart though. He is something like 23 goals allowed over expected. Dreadful goaltending is sinking the Flyers hard.

Can't miss goalie prospect.

Hart reminds me of Steve Mason. Good Junior career, came out of Juniors and was really successful his first full year, than his confidence faded, and it was a battle for him to get it back, and ultimately didn't have that long of a career. The other factor with Hart is the Everett factor as that's a team who always had goaltenders with great Junior numbers, but has not amounted to much NHL success. Hopefully Hart can get his mojo back, and his successor in Everett can make it two good NHL guys in a row out of that program.

I think he’s mailing it in on purpose so he can take a friendly discount without angering the NHLPA, help the team add more, and win a cup.

Interesting. Looking at his stats, and having not watched a single game of his this season, is he just a tire fire in his own end?

Has like a eight game point streak with 15 points, and still has a real punchable looking face.

Even if the rules were altered so that a guy like Fox had to miss an entire season before signing with another NHL team after Leaving College, than maybe he would have been more likely to sign with the Team that drafted him rather than refuse to sign and force his way to the Rangers.
It's pretty much a very Flames like deal to basically give up the two best players in a trade to get two guys who signed for less money. Although in the case of Fox, the Flames played that hand about as well as they could have. I hope the one day something random falls from the sky in New York and wrecks his career. I am that petty.
|
Really? I think Lindholm was the best player in that deal, and until Fox shows otherwise, he's about on par with Hanifin. Fox is more offensive, but I take Hanifin's defensive game over Fox's. And they're pretty much similar age. Yah, it sucks to lose Hamilton, but I'd rather have Lindholm than Hamilton, especially considering their current contracts and term.
Edit: Just wanted to add. People whine about Flames' poor asset management. The trade with the Canes was an example of good asset management IMO.

I hate that Fox is a jerk who only would sign in one place.
But that was a hell of a draft pick by our scouting staff. The guy looks like he will be potential Norris candidate and they drafted him with a third.

Phil Kessel had 14 goals in 70 games last year.
He has 15 in 37 this year. Those goals are a big reason why Arizona has passed St. Louis for the final playoff spot in the West.

Mason Marchment, who attended Flames training camp in 2015, has 7 points in 20 games for the Panthers. 25 years old, 6'4"209lbs, LW. Very good AHL stats in years prior too-looks like they got a diamond in the rough. Just thought it was kinda interesting....

17 goals, then 14 the year after in a bottom-6 role. Good PKer. He might not be a superstar, but he's got a lot more than what he's showing.

Hall would be a good reclamation project for Flames to sign this offseason, prob at a much lower cap hit than they would have had to pay last season.

Would a hall for johnny be a good swap? Not sure.
I think Hall would be a better fit for Sutter hockey.

No, Hall is UFA after this season. Sabres are more likely to trade him to a contender for a playoff push. I meant for the Flames to sign as an UFA in the offseason.
