Did a Polar Peak lap to Corner Pocket, over to bear, to red tree on snake ridge, and back to cedar and hit KC chutes. Everything was pretty much untracked, but being a level 10 powder snob I'd give it a 3/10.
It was absolutely pouring rain on Saturday and hot garbage on Friday so this is surprising to hear considering they only got 6 cm in that time. I’d also consider myself a powder snob and friday + 6 cm wouldn’t even be a 3 for me.

Weird, I thought Friday was great. The slush was deep and the lines were non existent. Slept in, filled my coat with beers and had a fantastic afternoon with friends.

Hitting up Sunshine tomorrow.

What is the deal with the cafeterias and restaurants there? Is dining-in open but with limited capacity and restrictions?
Or is everything inside closed and its take-out only so you have to eat outside?

Need to know if I need to pack tailgate beers and crappy sandwiches...

Oh man, I slammed so hard on Saturday at Louise. There was this little tiny stump poking out on the trail to Rock Garden and it stopped my board dead from a moderate speed. I flipped over in like 0.01 seconds and landed on ice. I thought I was dead for a few seconds. Was totally unexpected on such a non-run that you'd normally not even think twice about.

Here's my board:

Spoiler!

Left my board with Louise to repair as I don't know how to fix that. They're going to repair it for $30, which seems like a steal, so we'll see what it looks like when they're done. This may end up being my new rock board hah.

Ooof! That is a big ding! Looks like you hit dead on? Glad your ok, easy way to tear a knee joint if there was any type of lateral force.

Yeah, dead centre. Off to the side an inch either way and my board probably would have glanced off it.

As an aside, it's remarkable how robust snowboards are. There must have been so much force on the bindings (straps and bolts), but nothing gave.

Did anybody see you stack super hard? My real question is what kind of chirping did you receive from onlookers?

Wow thats a hell of a chip on your board, surprised and glad you're not in worse shape yourself after such a violent stop.

All by my lonesome so I could lick my wounds with a degree of privacy. Kind of fluked out there, but I'm sure it would have been a sight. A 6'4" guy falling hard is always fairly dramatic looking.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm so lucky I wasn't hurt. Landed on my side and I can feel it still, but no bones, ligaments or anything messed up. Might have even hit my head, but I'm not really sure. Helmet stayed put, anyway.

Well that was odd. 2-3 days of sun, warm temps and pouring rain, followed by 50cms over night in fernie.

Best day of the year. Hip deep in some spots.

Did you get caught on the mess of what looked like camper vans going up to the resort?

I was about 6 cars back, so managed to weave my through before it turned into a blockade. Woulda sucked to be those guys, two RWD camper vans and a RWD mini van splayed across the road on a powder day.

Also saw a guy ski touring down the highway. That was a first.

Wish Fernie was a bit closer to Calgary.

Hah, 20 years ago there may as well be the cretaceous period. Only guy I recognize anymore from when I worked there is Michael Fraiser, who is the guy with the baseball cap always on Glacier. I think he's the boss of the lifties. There was Pops...the old guy who always worked the parking lot, but I haven't seen him this season.

Same! This is the first season I haven't seen Pops. EDIT: actually, maybe a couple seasons.

Michael, was loading me onto Summit chair during a quiet mid-week day.

VIP parking passes for next season are on sale now for Lake Louise. I caved and bought one. Season passes are also on sale until May 2 and then they go up in price.

Anybody track their speed with apps? I did a couple speed runs down Meadowlark on Saturday. Hit 89.4 km/h and it felt pretty fast. I think I need a longer and stiffer board to push it much past that. I ride a 165 all mountain board, so while good it is not great for full-on speed runs.

I haven't, but my son and his uncle raced last year. The boy was 14 and they hit 70ish km/hr.

I was impressed my wife was not.
