Landeskog
Bjugstad
Armia
I think these guys could be targets.

Just realized you said just forwards...
You don't think Palmieri will be good for the team?
I look at the 2 years of Daryl and think that is your winning window. If you can get Palmieri added to the group for that time, you do it. It's likely it gets blown up after that anyway IMO.

Why would the avs trade their Captain, who's nearly a PPG this year?

I’d love Landeskog, but I think it would take an 8 digit, 7 year figure to lock him down and pry him out of Colorado... can’t see us getting him unfortunately. Nor would I want to offer what it would take to get him.

Kadri and Trocheck are a notch below (but good comps to set a floor). Duchene and Schenn are better comps for SM. ROR, Hayes, Stepan, JT Miller also offer some level of insight. Ultimately it boils down to what someone is willing to pay at a given moment.

Ideal 'Sutter' guys are few and far between. Tom Wilson, peak Simmonds, peak Dustin Brown...I don't think you need to chase that at all, you just need to avoid guys who are soft/lazy.

Kadri and Trocheck are better than Duchene and Schenn...

At the time of his trade DuChene was viewed pretty much in the level of a Monahan, or higher. Then Kadri, who I’d say was in Trochek territory.

Philly is melting down. Could be a good time for a huge blockbuster?

It seems so obvious doesn’t it? If neither team wants to blow it up, maybe a changeover makes sense.

I hope to god, Palmeri isnt a target unless he is traded for next to nothing. However, the shining light is that he has a modified NTC, with an 8 team no trade list. So, it is almost a certainty Calgary is on it. Hence, there is always a chance he will say no, especially since there is a high probability the Flames wont be in a playoff position.

....so little faith.
The Flames aren't doing this. There's not much evidence to support that Treliving would make such a move this season.

The thing is in a 1 for 1 trade Duchene and Stepan are the only guys we could get for Monahan.
I guess it is possible to get something significant for Monahan, I just don't think it's likely. I don't think Monahan is viewed as a top center, I would say that he is viewed as a lower end 2nd line center.

IMO they are loading up to ensure a playoff berth. They think we're pooched.

The problem with Monahan is if he isn’t scoring goals he brings nothing to the table. He can’t play a two-way role. He doesn’t kill penalties. He can’t gain entry. He’s not a great passer. He’s slow.
Treliving wasn’t impressed with the offers last offseason. The offers this summer will be even worse. When he is moved, people around here are not going to be happy with the return.

Montreal adding Staal is a nice piece. Should help them hold onto that final playoff spot.
